Tony George and Co. (2).

9 Mini.; One. Two man, one straight, the other red- nosed foreign eccentrique, also straight woman, for tumbling stunts. Straight and woman doing the understanding for the comedy head-stands and kindred tricks of the comedian. The best trick is a twisting somersault from understander’s shoulders to same position. Comedy rather good.

Kane, Morey and Moore.

6 Mins. Full Stage Fifth Ave. These three boys do two tricks in six minutes. Both are corkers. The final one is the only trick of its kind ever seen, and a wonder in perch balancing. The understander who is also an expert risley worker, balances a perch, silver, at least 22 feet high, on his forehead, while one of the young men clambers to the top. While there he gracefully does a full swing outward, with the understander still balancing the pole on his forehead without any other assistance. It held the house en wrapt and is one of the best acrobatic thrillers vaudeville has seen. The other trick was the balancing of a ladder on upraised feet, with the other boy doing’ acrobatic work upon it. The boys are full grown youths. It’s a turn for those who want a real acrobatic act of novelty that can go into any position.

Worden Brothers (formerly Wartenburg Brothers)

The Worden Brothers, formerly known as the Wartemburg Brothers, opened the program with their ground acrobatics and pedal wor kon [sic] pedestals. They did what they have been doing for years, getting through all right in the first spot. At least give these acrobats credit. They are still selling their stuff to hold the first spot and that’s keeping abreast for they did the same thing at Tony Pastor’s long before Pastor’s closed.

Herberta

Wire Walker 12 mins, full stage Herberta is a female impersonator, but through a convincing characterization this is not disclosed until the finish. Act consists of a series of dances and acrobatics and the tight wire, well executed and handled with good showmanship. Opening with a fast bit of stepping to rag tempo, a waltz, skirt dance and acrobatic dance follow in order. These are all performed on the slender wire and with quite as much ease as if on solid ground. One of Herberta’s best tricks is running swiftly to and fro across the wire several times and sliding into a “split” For his [sic] closing stunt he jumps over a chair held, by an assistant.

Page, Hack and Mack

Page, Hack and Mack, opening to the usual sparse audience, pulled down a couple of bows, with their closing trick, a difficult Jump by one of the men, from atop a three-high table arrangement to a hand-catch eight feet away by the understander. To complicate this and make It harder the understander holds the woman of the act twined around his waist. It’s a showy stunt handled with real showmanship ad deserved all it got.

Julia Edwards.

12 Mini.; One and Full Stage. Miss Edwards clad in a plush gown makes an entrance in “one and sings the “Shimmy Blues.” When she turns her back she reveals pantalettes and hose. Going into full stage she monologs beneath a pair of rings and strips to white tights. Then some ring work, keeping the gab up meanwhile, with the aid of a stage hand she does some balancing on a belt and finishes with a slow descent while singing a classical song. She possesses a fair voice and is an excellent gymnast The talk is a trifle overdone, most of the gags sounding familiar. It’s a good small time opener.

FRANKLYN BROTHERS.

10 Mins. The understanding of this team resembles in build, name and style of work the strong man in the Franklyn. Charles get the brother act flashed a good routine that held most of the house in the closing spot. The stunts are well done without, however, an attempt at speeding in other routines of the kind. For the finish they have evolved a lift suggestive of the chair lift in the Franklyn, Charles act. The brothers work it out with a table, which is not as spectacular and does not look as difficult.

THE GELLIS

8 Mins; Full Stage. This turn was formerly of the Gelli Family, a French acrobatic act which was first seen here two years ago. The letter box expose of the midget is used at the opening. The two young men who perform most of the work are classy workers and are “good looking.” The routine is varied, with foot Juggling of one of the men who tosses the other and the midget about… The body swing stunt done in spotlight drew’ a big hand. It is probable the act was cut in numbers because of the price five persons must have called for. In the present form the Gellis rate a first rank acrobatic act. Closing the show they held the house.

DALLAS WALKER.

10 Mins, Open One. The full stage set is used for the rope spinning, and here she does the usual routine with a little chatter. The finish is another song and dance, using the rope in the dance. Miss Walker makes three costume changes and is a pretty picture in the velvet and gold comic opera cowboy costumes. It is all Dallas Walker and neither the singing, dancing or roping that counts. A nice little turn that will get away opening.

JOE FANTONE and Co.

Full Stage A good routine of acrobatics and gymnastics is executed on the flying rings with the finish trick a flashy thriller. Two of the men posed on the tips of the tepees Jump together onto the raised end of a spring board which hurtles another member up to a turnover and foot hold on two ankle straps, leaving him hanging head downward. It’s a difficult looking trick and made a strong finish.
