This pantomime entitled “The First Affair” was twenty-two minutes long on the full stage. Irene Bordoni and Emil Agoust play ancient people in love. Agoust wears “a union suit of fleshings, naturally coloured and nicely tinted, all over and everywhere.” Bordoni wears tights, a short leopard skin, and trip-up skirts. She also wears her hair down and loose. The setting is a woodland and the two “near-ape” people fall in love.
Bordoni is actually a singer, and her talents are wasted in her pantomime debut. She will never move as well as a true pantomimist like Gaby Deslys so she should create an act which suits her. Her trip-up skirts also seem out of place in the ancient setting. Agoust was brilliant. The pantomime will draw spectators to the theater because it is a piece that is intended to get people talking. Beyond that, it will not go far.
