A mechanical scene of an idyllic farming town in Belgium that is scouted, and attacked by an invading army. “A fully equipped infantry brigade, from a couple of marching battalions to motor truck drawn cannons”.
Church bells toll to signal the passing hours in the town.
Similar to "The Sinking of the Titanic", this mechanical scene is telling the story of something happening in very recent history - in this case the German invasion of Belgium.
"Invasion of Belgium"
The detail and completeness is admirable, but the act is not for vaudeville, and would not do well on a larger stage, since it is so small.
