Set in a drug store in a slum location
The production originated in Chicago, which is surprising considering its success.
"Dope" which holds comedy, interest, and is faithfully drawn, telling a whole story (of 'Doc' who has a drug store selling cocaine, and is arrested due to the plots of reformed settlement workers, with further drama to follow) in twenty minutes, besides keenly satirizing the average "settlement worker."
It became at once Monday evening at the American one of the big hits of the show as well as a playlet vaudeville can endure for ever so long.
It is altogether out of the everyday humdrum of vaudeville sketches. Everyone in the cast is entitled to a credit mark of excellent. There are no exceptions.
