Klindt Bros.

Comedy acrobats. 8 minutes. Full stage. Garden. A very ordinary acrobatic act that I was forced to put in on account of the non-appearance of the Doric Comiques, who did not show up on Monday and we have never heard from them up to this time. The Klindt Bros. is a good act to keep away from. (OPEN)

Bert Cutler

Interior. 9 minutes. “The Yankee Billiardist.” This is a splendid opening act and capable of going down lower on the bill. Mr. Cutler does some truly wonderful billiard shots and has a line of patter, which, though a bit hackneyed, seemed to get over nicely. His manner is pleasing and his exhibition of billiard playing gained a lot of applause. (Syracuse)

Roatine, Brenhan and Company

Presenting “Trixie and the Amateur.” Scene, dressing room. Two women and a man. Two girls one an old timer and the other a newcomer are talking about the show business. The newcomer has dreams of being a star and the old timed tries to discourage her. Seeing she can’t, the old timer decides to get the new girl a chance after the stage manager enters and tells the new one she loses her chance as the girl whose place she was to fill has suddenly returned. The old timer act [sic] as thought she is under the influence of liquor and gets discharged. The new girl is then given the chance and as the curtain goes down the old timer walks off to the street. The act just got by in this spot. F.S. Time of act 18 min. This same set was played here by Eleanor Otis and Company.

Frank Morrell

Working blackface. 15 minutes in one. Tells some jokeless jokes but sings well. If he’d stick to singing and cut out the comedy he’d go much better. However, the audience was satisfied and he received his share of the applause. (St. Louis)

Franklyn Ardell & Co.

Men and woman in a comedy sketch entitled “The Suffragette.” The act runs 14 minutes. C.D.F. office set and is one of the best comedy acts we have ever had in the Hippodrome. It’s new to Cleveland and the audience just simply ate it up. (Dayton)

Jennings & Smith

20 min in one. Advance applause for Jennings. Hughie is a very fortunate to have a good comedian like blackface minstrel Ben Smith to out ginger in his act. The latter puts over a good line of stuff both in song and story having a very good tenor voice. Jennings’ baseball anecdotes got a good hand, and on the whole, the act make good in the spot.

Billy McDermott

20 min in one. This man’s material is good and his method takes with the crowd. Got them laughing right from the start and kept them going right up to the big finish. All of his stuff is new and good. Held this spot in fine shape and could hold any place on the bill with credit where an act is one is wanted. Closed with the Toreador burlesque to big applause. As an encore, gave the best caricature of Sousa & Creatore leading a band ever given here.

Laure Buckley

12 min in one. A clever entertainer who held this spot on the bill very acceptably with character studies, such as, the manicure girl, the department store demonstrator, etc. Received good applause. All right for an early spot.

The Heim Children

19 minutes in one. Special drop. For some reason or other, this boy seems to have gone back. Although his line of stuff is about the same, he seems to have lost some of his unctuousness, and while the act went well, it did not begin to bet the hit it was last season.

Rawls & Von Kaufman

I was a little scary about these people down in this spot after a lively show, but they held it more than creditably; in fact, scored as big a hit as they did on their previous visit. I am having them do their act in one, instead of opening in three; they insist that they must have a center door to come through, fortunately we had a drop that had a center door in it, which we used in one. There is no need of a center door for these people, but they think he must come in through one. Being entirely in one, it is a most valuable act; a good bargain at the money. 27 min in one and the audience laughing very minute.
