Victoria Four

This is positively a bad quartette. The two bass voices are all right, but the tenors—“good-night.” A fellow with a falsetto voice has enough excess to carry all through life without endeavouring to turn it into a soprano, as the first tenor did this afternoon. Beginning tonight this act work in 2.

Exposition Four

18 min. F.S., close in one. Three men working straight, one of them blackface. This act does not need any comment other than to say that it is right up to the standard in all their instrumental and vocal work. The quick changes of costume got a good hand. Considerable comedy. Closed very strong. (The close in one is a bluff, as it runs only a minute and a half and it is impossible to make any kind of set behind it.)

Columbia Comedy Four

16 min. in one. Each is a good soloist and they do excellent work together. The combination includes the Dude, the pugnacious German and two work straight. Good selections of songs and fair comedy. Closed well. O.K. for this spot.

Avon Comedy Four

20 min. open F.S., close in one. These boys certainly did wake up the holiday crowd this afternoon with their knockabout comedy, splendid character work and excellent songs. The applause was frequent throughout and at times it stopped the show. Introduced a lot of new stuff, and all of it clean and wholesome humor. A bully act for this spot on the bill. Closed very strong with the quartette.

Four Melody Monarchs

17 minutes full stage. Although the singer has a bad cold and is very hoarse, still the act went big, and each of their numbers scored heavily.

Primrose Four

16 minutes in one. A quartette that get a good deal of comedy out of their work as well as entertain with good singing numbers.

Primrose Four

Semi-comedy quartette, who gave evident satisfaction. 15 Min. in One.

Columbia Comedy Four

4 men. Time 14. In 1. Good singers. Comedy rather stale, coped after Empire comedy four.

Basque Quartette

15 min. in one. These people are well received whenever they make a recurrent visit here. The three men have good voices, and the soprano is excellent. Gave four selections, three from the operas and one popular. Good applause. All right in this spot. Closed well.

Big City Four

Easily one of the best of the male quartettes. Their voices blend well and they have a good selection of songs and with a little bi-play of comedy, they made good most thoroughly, in this difficult position on the bill. They held the stage 21 minutes without any trouble at all, in one.
