Open C.D.F. Close in 1. Time 17. An old style set in which the men do a lot of varied work and none of it very well. They just “get by” with much of their material. Instrumental, dances, songs and comedy. A series of rapid changes form a feature.
14 min. in one. This quartette is very favorably known here. Received some advance applause, and each one of their selections, including the solos and collective work, received strong hands. The selections were all new and all exceptionally good. Big finish.
20 min. in One. For a rousing comedy act, all that could be desired. Same act as presented here before. Good advance hand. Varied their material somewhat. All of it is good and took very strong with our audience. Closed immensely.
The singing in this act is very poor. The comedy got some laughs from the holiday audience, but I don’t believe it will go with the regulars. The act follows the lines laid down by the Empire Comedy Four, Orpheus Comedy Four and others, though not nearly as good as those mentioned. 15 Min. in One.
“The New School Teacher.” Held this position in good shape with lots of good comedy and good singing. Full stage, closing in one.
In 1. 4 men. Time 15. When they sing, they sing well. Most of the time is taken up by a Dutchman chasing a “sinny” [sic] about the stage. They were laughed at and applauded, but the act would have a more intelligent appeal if more singing was done and much of their brand of comedy was eliminated.
13 min. in one. Three men and a woman, all good vocalists and instrumentalists in peasant costume of Italy. Sing the regulation Italian and French popular songs and from the operas. Received good applause and closed well. Held the spot in good shape.
16 min. in one. This is one of the best vocal quartettes we have had. Each one is a good soloist, and their ensemble work is finished and strong. Big applause after each number. They infuse a little comedy which helps much. The close was immense after an encore.
18 minutes in one. It is a good many years since we played this quartette, and their stuff is pretty much the same, but they got plenty of laughs and went big.
Male quartet that held the audience intact and got plenty of applause throughout and at the finish of their act.
