15 min. A collection of the best comedy songs we have heard for some time helped this girl to put over a good sized laughing and applause hit. She injects plenty of spirit into her work which caught on with the audience at once and each song brought her liberal applause. She finished to a very big hand.
Bomerang [sic] Throwers. 8 minutes f.s. Special set. These people have a good novelty, with a little comedy, which gets over first-rate. Monday afternoon the woman sang a ballad at the opening, which was eliminated Monday night. She has not the voice to put it over in a big-time house. When they get down to the boomerangs, however, the act moves right along, and held the interest every minute
15 min. “The Actor and the Italian.” These two men, one working straight and the other in the character of an Italian, have very good singing and talking act. Their material is well handled and got plenty of laughs. They also did two comedy songs which brought good results. Were forced to take several bows at the finish.
Man and woman in one with two men asst. comedy offering “nut” comedians. Woman sings and has a good voice. Inglis third appearance doing about the same line of comedy, but they went over good. 20 min.
13 minutes in one. Olio drop. Doing their new act, “A Scotch High-Ball.” A good comedy turn, with some singing and plenty of life. Both work in Scotch kilts, the woman comedy, the man straight. Full of ginger, and scored quite a hit.
30 min. He is doing about the same he has always done, with the exception of burlesquing the acts on the current week’s bill. He has a lot of good comedy talk and there is much of it that had to be eliminated. Got plenty of laughs and the singing in the act was up to its usual standard. The act registered a solid hit.
While Mr. Deagon has a very good act, it was rather a disappointment to me because of the many serious moments in it. He is trying to do an Albert Chevalier turn. He opens with a straight Ballad, then does a little comedy, mingled with some singing bits, then an old gardner in a very serious song about a little girl, then a little more comedy. There are no big laughs in his act at all, and if anyone is looking for a big laugh in the bill, this is not it. For that reason, I am disappointed. 22 minutes. Opens in one. Does a bit in two. A short close in one.
24 min. Six men in a comedy singing offering, staged in scene representing a cowboy’s camp. Their program consists of ballads and comedy songs and bits of comedy talk and jokes are used. The latter are rather weak, but get some laughs and the singing pulled the act through a good sized hit.
18 minutes in one and two. Street drop and office set. Important: their new act is NOT in one. We were obliged to re-arrange the bill before they opened Monday, to avoid a long stage wait. Open in one and close in an office scene in two. Have some bright lines and a couple of original songs. A pleasing light comedy act that went fist-rate.
14 min. They do a series of ballads and comedy songs, some of them written by Mr. Marshall. The girl is a lively worker and builds up her songs by injecting comedy bit and imitations. They did very well with their “cat” duet, finishing to a very good hand.
