Al Shayne

15 min. Formerly of Matthews & Shayne. He is billed as a single, but does almost his entire act with a man who sits among the musicians and starts an argument with the one on the stage. Later the two finish their argument on the stage and close with a duet singing number. There is considerable talk to the act but it got plenty of laughs and the singing won both of them liberal applause, the act finishing very well.

Jim & Marion Harkins

13 min. This team is composed of Philadelphians and they were given a great reception here but their act went through on its merits. Harkins “talk about” the other acts on the bill and gets a lot of laughs out of it, and the girl sings a couple of songs. They finished with a comedy song number which brought big results.

Henrietta Crosman and Co.

In “Cousin Eleanor.” 21 minutes f.s. Special set. This is an excellent comedy, and Miss Crosman has gathered a good company to support her. The woman who plays the chorus lady is exceptionally clever. Got many laughs and closed strong.

In the Trenches

6 men one woman work in full stage special set 20 min. Comedy offering on war in a trench with some good singing by quatette [sic]. Electrical effects make the act a pretty offering. Went good all shows.

Bensee & Baird

19 min. Man and woman in a comedy singing and talking act, called, “Songiflage.” This is their first time here and they registered a good sized hit. Their comedy is above the average and their songs new and well handled. They got a lot of laughs and finished to a strong hand.

Chief Caupolican

16 min. Indian orator and singer. The novelty of an Indian singing and delivering a semi-comedy talk makes this act very interesting. He has a very good voice, is highly educated and gets good results. Was liberally applauded.

Monroe & Mack

16 min. This recently reunited team has a sure-fire laugh-winner. They use a lot of comedy talk and four songs, all of the latter being the original with them. Their talk is handled with splendid results, keeping the laughs going steadily. Their act may be classed as a “nut” act. Finished strong.

Farber Girls

22 min. These two girls put over a tremendous hit and their comedy songs. They did five numbers, all of them new and every one scoring individually. They could have continued indefinitely, being forced to take several bows at the finish.

Mumford & Thompson

“Humoristics.” Two men who try to be funny and sing. If they would stick to straight singing they might get by. Drop in 1—15 min.

Mary Melville

13 min. This is Mae Melville, formerly of Melville & Higgins. Sings a couple of comedy songs but her act consists mainly of comedy talk which was good for laughs. She works in the same character that she used with Higgins and gets her stuff over with good effect. Was well liked and finished strong.
