McDonald Trio.

12 Mins.; Full Stage A very classy bicycle act. Closing the show at the Colonial within a minute or two of 11 o’clock, it held the audience in till the finish. It is made up of two girls and a man, the girls attired first in abbreviated Watteau dresses, with little hats to match. The act is backed up by an artistic sateen cyclorama drop on which are painted a couple of fancy portraits in medallions, the figures being in Colonial costumes in keeping with the dressing of the girls in the act. After going to all this trouble to secure such an artistic effect, the man in the act is attired in modern Tuxedo raiment, not at all in keeping with the “picture.” Later the girls strip to tights with ballet-length skirts and knickers, and are at all times comely in appearance. All three ride their wheels well, performing single, double and trio work of good quality. A very pleasing act of its kind.

HILL and SANDERS.

12 Mins.; Full Stage Arthur Hill, formerly of Hill and Sylvia nay, has framed a cycle turn around the old-time high-wheel bike of 30 years ago using that style exclusively in addition to a wooden cart wheel and unicycle for trick stuff. Miss Sanders assists in the comedy end and does a brief bit of riding toward the finish. One of the tricks has Mr. Hill holding Miss Banders on his shoulders while he rides the unicycle. The feature is the holding aloft of Miss Sanders on the palm of Mr. Hill’s hand, he at the same time riding the high bike.

Charles Ahearn and his Cycling

This act isca [sic] very funny one – and went big with the audience – They ride all manner of wheels – they worked under a disadvantage on account of our stage being rather small, but did the best they could and surely got us some business. 10 min.

Valentine and Bell

10 minutes f.s. C.D.F. Man and woman in a trick bicycle act, with little dancing. The bicycles are disguised as various articles of furniture, such as a clock, a table and a phonograph. Have some good tricks, and made an acceptable opener.

The Larneds

13 min. Man and woman is comedy bicycle act, the man working in tramp make-up and injecting some comedy. The straight riding forms the feature of their act and with a good routine of tricks, well handled they did very well in the opening spot.

Jessie Keller and Tommy Weir

13 minutes. Open Olio in one. Go to fs. Special cyclorama, close olio in one. Open with songs, draw off for bicycle riding by woman, and close with songs. Neither has much of a voice, and their material has been sung to death here. The woman makes a great appearance on the wheel, but we had to dress her up as the Mayor will not permit full tights to be worn in this city. Just a fair small-time act.

Three Arthurs

Bicycle act, 9 minutes, full stage. Although showing nothing new, they retain all that is the best in the cyclists stock in trade, those things which, though seen many times, are too good to be relegated to the shelf, and the act is, all thing considered, a very desirable offering.

Cycling Brunettes

10 Min. Full Stage. A very good bicycle act that closes this show in good shape.

International Polo Team

14 min. F.S. This is certainly a novelty, but judging from today’s audience is not at all what this house wants as a closing act. After the first goal had been scored, the audience got up and walked out in a body, the act receiving little, if any, applause. Was very much surprised as reports on the act thought it had been a sure fire closer. Have put it in number three tonight and will watch it again to see how it fares. Supplementary Report: 12 min. F.S. The first performance of this team, while realized as a novelty, did not hold the interest of the audience satisfactorily in the closing spot and was consequently moved up to third place. The difference in the impression made was very marked, not only on account of their infusing into their work much more ginger, piling up an aggregation of fourteen points against five at their first performance, with some sensational plays which received generous applause. In this spot on the bill and the swiftness of the act as it is going now, it is proving entirely satisfactory.

Sebastian Merrill & Co.

13 min. F.S. This act makes a very good closer. There is plenty of comedy with the trick cycle riding that is a little of the Anwarn variety, all of it very good, the loop-the-loop on the bicycle, with both men on the wheel, wound the act up with a thrill following the comedy. Big finishing hand.
