Wolfert Trio

Arrived from Germany ten days ago. The act is neatly dressed. The three men work with ease and grace. They use a spring board for many tricks like a head to head stand.

Ortaneys

Three men and three dogs. If acrobatic work three high is to be shown then a man should be on the top rather than a dog.

The Roses (Les Laroses)

Some good tricks. They lack in appearance. The man is too heavy to look well. The woman dresses badly, wearing out old costumes.

Silvano

Balances upon the opening of a water bottle placed above a setting of chairs. Plays guitar while he balances

Lavine and Page

Page should cut the song and do more contortions. Lavine should extend the slack wire performance.

The Griff Brothers

Muscular pair of European acrobats. Wore pink silk and medals. Supported each other by their teeth.

Laredo and Blake

excellent act, showing features of Rice and Prevost but still original. Fast work with style and smoothness suplemented by his clown partner.

Josselin Trio

fair work on the trapeze. stronger appeal with their act on the webbing, which is ignored by many modern gymnasts

Brothers Melvin

mostly hand to hand work, similar style to the Brothers Bard. Lack sureness and confidence. Need to think up a better style of costume. Their best trick is a double throw to hands.

McWatters and Tyson

They have cut out the dressing room scene. McWatters works the blackface change with stereopticon slide showing the rest of the minstrel troupe. There is a basket trick. Two songs are spoiled through use of lanterns. “A bright stage is far better than these fool light effects, but performers cannot see it this way.” Miss Tyson has the “mobility of countenance” of a Fay. “She can make more faces in a given time than a small boy who has partaken of green apples
