9 Mins.; Full Stage.
The novelty of the Walkers’ turn is that they work with the double bars leading to a casting upright and cradle and a trapeze hanging below the cradle. The act has straight worker, clown and trickily dressed woman. The woman hangs from the cradle like a catcher, but in reality stalls and throws the trapeze to the workers at the right time. The feature trick is a giant swing and fly-away from the outside bar, across the second bar with a twisting somersault catching the traps, going back to the second bar and finishing the routine with a fly away and double to the mat. Aside from this trick the straight and clown do nothing but the familiar stuff, simple, but smoothly handled.
5 Mins.; Full Stage
Male trio of gymnasts in ring routine. Two men straight making neat appearance in white flannels and Jerseys with V shaped necks. The comic sports an Eton Jacket and collar. The work of the two straight men is good, but it is the performance of the comedian that stands out.
7 Mins.; Full Stage.
Two men and a young woman do acrobatics, with a different idea through the girl. She is the top mounter and while the especial acrobatics she and either of the men are concerned in are of the customary sort, the girl, who looks well, is dressed more as a ballroom dancer than an acrobat. Besides which she often changes her gown, always low cut in the back, showing a butterfly to one side of her bare shoulder and with a soubret length skirts leaves her bare legs beneath. The changes make the girl more attractive, with her red hair and good looks.
7 min. f.s. spl. Set. This act has a very showy setting and the girl does some very clever stunts while hanging by her teeth in midair. The finishing trick is a “corker” and put the act over to a good.
7 min f.s. Three men in roller skating offering. Two of the men on rollers do the customary hand balancing routine with the third member working without rollers. Went over good closing.
Man and woman – 5 min f.s. This act is timed for 7 minutes but did 5 minutes on their Tuesday afternoon opening. They have a very good routine of tricks on a tight wire. Went well.
8 min f.s. Spl. The act starts slowly, giving the audience the impression that it is an ordinary posing act. After getting started on an exceptional routine of clever hand balancing and ground work, they held the house well and closed strong.
7 min. A very good hand-to-hand balancing act with some new tricks. They have a great finishing trick which took them off to a big hand. They are dressed to represent the national colors and the opening picture won a hand. Made a very good opener.
Masters in the art of Equilibrium – three men; performing stunts in midair on ladders, which were held on the shoulders, forehead and feet of one of the trio; 10 min. full stage; went good.
This is a very good and interesting act of acrobats and tumblers but it would be a great deal more valuable to us, if it had not played the Scollay Square Olympia or cheap house, under the name of Orrazzam Troup [sic] about three months ago. Although it is a good act, it seems to me there ought to be enough acts to take the place of troups [sic] of this kind that play a ten cent house a few weeks before they come into a place like Keith’s.
