CHESTER and WARREN.

The men enter in checked business suits, remove the jackets and go into a fast routine of familiar ground tumbling. Working fast and hard, however, brought them considerable in the way of applause. An announced feat was a back somersault by one of the men, in which he lands on his head with a loud thump after describing a medium sized parabola. It is a fool hardy stunt and its very foolhardiness earns it the approval it did.

LEAVERE AND COLLINS.

10 Mins. Man and woman in routine of ground tumbling, hand to hand and head balancing, Following sounds of an argument off stage, woman enters and announces partner won’t appear, but she will go ahead with act., etc. . Partner walks on and pair go into acrobatic routine. Woman is understander, displaying unusual strength in lifts and balancing of partner.

EVANS and PEREZ.

15 Mins. Two men in perch work. A 24- foot perch is used for the opening, balanced in the usual way with the mounter going through a difficult routine of gymnastics. The perch is very high, it being necessary to raise the borders considerably. The height makes for thrilling stuff, but has a drawback in that the top man can not be seen by those in the rear of the orchestra or balcony. A special eye in two backs up the gymnastics. Later this parts, disclosing a scenic marine view. A ladder follows the perch, with the mounter doing more dangerous looking stuff. Still another perch is used later, a double arrangement, supported on the soles of the feet of the understander. Pedal Juggling with a large football by one of the men serves to vary the perch work.

FLYING RUSSELL and CO.

10 Mins.; Full Stage Mr. Russell, who has apparently been concealed at top of upper trapeze, a border hiding him from view of audience, is suddenly disclosed sitting on bar of upper trapeze. This constitutes novel and effective entrance. Routine of real thrillers in way of flying stunts by Mr. Russell follows. Woman contributes bit of stepping that fills in nicely, making costume change from dress to knickers. Closing trick has man hanging head downward from top trapeze, lower one having been removed, and holding contrivance by means of strap around neck, in which woman does upside down dance, making dance taps on wooden flooring of arrangement. Mr. Russell, in addition to being a daring aerialist, cutting all of the simpler tricks and performing the most difficult ones with speed and showmanship, adds value to the act through his neat appearance in white shirt and black trousers.

SENSATIONAL VALENTEENS.

Aerialists. 6 Mins.; Full Stage. Mixed couple in white tights and green silk trunks. When the front drop is raised they are already seated on a double trapeze and immediately go into action. The young woman has lots of style and is full of “pep.” He hangs head down, supporting her for teeth spin. Up to this point routine is conventional, but then they go into a special apparatus which is on the same principle as Delmore and Lee’s break-away ladder, only it is in the form of circles six feet in diameter They stand inside the circles and balance until time to whirl around for the finish. It is an effective and novel closing turn.

LEA and FITZ.

12 Mins. followed by muscular posing and deep breathing exercises, showing unusual development for his years. White-face comic in baggy pants joins him in some contortion stunts and pantomime. Straight features a leap over a table and chair from a short standing take-off, also high kicks, touching a basket at 10 feet…

DEVARO and ZEMESTER.

7 Mins., Full Stage Surrounded by a set of the servants’ quarters on a plantation and having sunflowers on the three bars, the two men, in blackface, go through the usual swings, turns and twists, except there is some talk spaced in before each takes his turn on the cross pieces.

EUGENE and FINNEY.

Red-nosed eccentric corned inn and straight in a corking routine of horizontal bar stunts. Straight features a double bade somersault from bar to landing (—-) with comics’ best a jump from bar to bar on top. The letter’s efforts at pantomime comedy don’t help the act an iota.

ARENA BROS.

6 Mins.; Full Stage Two men in evening clothes, one straight, other comedian, doing “drunk” and taking half a dozen brimming drinks in open glasses from his pockets after violent acrobatic feats. The ground tumbling is made up of simple, familiar feats, neatly enough done, rows of flip- flaps, series of twisters and bark lay-outs. There is a clever bull terrier used in rough and fumble combinations. For the finish they build a two high, with the dog standing on his hind legs upon the cap of the top mounter… The routine Is already under way as the curtain goes up. The audience’s first flash shows the straight man in a hand stand in the middle of the stage (a parlor set here) with the dog trotting figure is between his arms. The advantage of this arrangement is clear for a closing turn, inasmuch as it seizes the attention of the audience which might be started to the exits by the elaborate parade which usually precedes the feature work of most athletic turns, and which usually has no quick movement to arrest attention.

SMILETTA SISTERS.

Two girls, blonde and brunet. in a mixture of slack wire balancing… Best of act is devoted to ground tumbling by both, the brunet attracting attention through her clean-cut character acrobatics, which are made to stand out by reason of her ability as a contortionist.  Blonde also a good contortionist.
