The men scored the biggest with their duets. The straight walks on and remarks that his train is a little late. He then sang the “Wedding Song.” Afterward, his partner appeared and the duo did a phonographic “bit,” the straight singing “When the Bell in the Lighthouse Rings Ding Dong” and the other man repeating the chorus. For an encore they did “My Lady Dixie.”
The comedy is not anything to boast about and there is little excuse for them to appear in eccentric makeup. Their voices are immense, filling the theatre. They are entitled to some attention. A different style of dressing would help. With no comedy, depending solely on their songs, they could pass with a rush.
