Madame? is a prima donna soprano who sings and wears a black lace mask. She is a large blonde woman whose identity is not known. She may be Nordica or Sembrich or another high brow opera star. She sings three songs with an extreme high note for a finale.
"Caro Nome" (from "Rigoletto"); "Lullaby" (from "Jocelyn"); "When Twilight Fails"
"The singer climbed to the Pike's Peak of altissimo without an effort, and the audience, true to vaudeville the country over, tore loose." Although they were not convinced by the opening number, everyone in the audience seemed emotionally connected to the last few songs.
Her songs guarantee her a spot among the classy singing acts in vaudeville.
