The act would probably be under the head of a “bump act” in that the comedian adopts the style originated by Jimmy Rice, although he does not follow Rice in his work to any great extent. He is the first to leave the pantomime act alone entirely in combination with a ring act. He has thought of several new ways to risk his neck, all of them big laughs. His funniest bit is away from the falls; the straight man gets into a long swing on the rings. The comedian apparently paying no attention to him works directly in the path of the swing, the straight man just missing him each time as he passes.
The bit is almost enough to secure the laughs on its own. The straight is also a first rate performer, framing up the specialty quite well. The boys were exceptional.
