Harry Jolson
was the real drawing card, due perhaps to
the success attained by his brother, Al, on the
Coast, as a monologist. There were frequent verbal
requests from the front for his brother's
material, and Harry had to struggle hard to maintain
his individuality. Possessing a higher pitched
voice than his younger brother, he was at a disadvantage
In his coon songs, but there were
others, and the newcomer registered as one of
the hits of the Empire's history.
