These Japanese acrobats accomplish most of their work in perch balancing, with some women as the understanders. They differ from the typical Japanese act of pedal juggling and acrobatics. A couple of youngsters are perched on top of the poles. A larger contrast to usual acts of this kind is that the Azuma woman are moving around with the poles on their shoulders.
The working is startling in its hazardousness but the effect is somewhat lost in the big Garden. They would probably be more thrilling on a regular vaudeville stage.
