Unlike most shadowgraphists, Donnelly works in front of the curtain, in plain view of the audience. He introduces a variety of imitations, all with natural sound effects.
His routine is executed with admirable ease, skill and swiftness, indicating the work of a finished artist. He is without a doubt one of the best silent artists England has sent over this season. Despite opening the show, he scored big.
