"The Million Dollar Wife" was originally run by Ruth Allen and Co. as "We Need the Money." The ward of a wealthy broker wishes to marry the broker's daughter. The broker does not think wisely of this, but gives him the $250 000 he has been holding in trust for him. When it reaches a million he will consent to the marriage. In a hurry, the young man takes a chance tip "on the market" over the phone. His stocks go down and the young chap is wiped out to about $20 000. The girl comes to his rescue as the stocks climb, the broker on the other end on the market. When Ruth Allen produced the show she was the daughter and held the primary role. In Moresco's production the men are the primary characters.
The sketch, if you can forget the unplausibility of the plot is all right.
