The program says Arthur Klein presents the dramatic sensation of the year, then it gives the name in large type, and afterwards a full description of the Canadian Northwest Mounted Police. The melodrama begins with a man who is convicted of murder through circumstantial evidence. He escapes into the Canadian woods and is chased by the Mounted Police, led by the real murderer. A sweetheart enters the cabin in which he is hiding. The real murderer is in love with her too. They are discovered. Before the scene is over with the aid of an Indian guide the murderer is placed at the hands of the leader of the police. The two men are left alone, the girl going for help, after the police leader had already sent for his men. A hand fight ensues. The police return, but too late; the hero mounts his horse and exits through a window.
The sketch is a lot more impressive in writing than in reality. The piece is a pure melodrama of the cheap sort. The act falls short just in the spot it should get its strength. The scene where the girl tries to throw the officers off the hero's trail is not convincing or interesting. The cast is not the best; the weakness does not lie so much in the men, but rather one woman. Adora Andrews does not strike a responsive chord. The act will do well in some houses without question as the better classes will think its funny.
