The lyric soprano has a voice of no mean calibre, yet her value for vaudeville is problematic. Only a few straight singers can hold the attention of an audience in a two-a-day house with classical music; some how Miss DeFay does just this.
Rose DeFay is a good looker with a pleasing personality. The applause she received for her last number, "Last Rose of Summer," should prove to her that more popular semi-classical numbers would take her further than the "small time."
