"Habanera" from "Carmen," aria from "Perle du Brasil" and Swanee River.
Monday night the audience went wild at the conclusion of her act. From the back of the house where there were a number of standees there was continual applause which continued after the audience on the lower floor had quite finished applauding and this forced the singer to deliver an encore.
Mme. Calve employs the orchestra while singing at the Palace this week and works in a wood set somewhat similar to the roadside scene in "Carmen." It would seem advisable that Calve cling entirely to operatic selections, for with the general public not exceedingly familiar with all of the latter compositions she can occasionally hit a blue one and get away with it. [Calve's encore] was by far the best she did. It was short and beautifully suited to her voice.
