In 23 minutes Houdini escaped from a leather bag made by W.L. Douglas shoe company. There were eyelets in which heavy chain was looped and padlocked. There were three yale locks and three corbin locks. A volunteer committee examined the bag before the act. Houdini first placed his feet into the bag. When the bag was around his neck Houdini decided to remove his dresscoat. The bag was then drawn up over his head and padlocked. He was then laid down on his side. Within ten minutes Houdini asked to be turned over. Soon after that Houdini escaped, the bag still padlocked.
