There is no law in this country requiring three verses of a song, if so written, to be sung. Two will do, and in the matter of “Melinda,” none at all would be preferred.
Her nightly reception has been improved, and she could further increase the advantage by displaying judgement.
Miss James should be able to decide in a week's time if a selection, however successful in London, has failed here, and that is the fate of “Melinda,” mistakenly sung anyway at the opening.
