Charley Faust is the New York Giant's mascot.
The act opened with a five minute address by Loney Haskell, who diplomatically paved the way by asking the audience not to take Faust seriously. The mascot finally appeared in field regalia, attempting to sing the "Star Spangled Banner." He chuckled with glee as the stage hands marched around him carrying small American flags. He followed this with a childish rendition about a mule. Afterward, he did a monologue about the Giants. He then does some imitations of a railroad train and the "mooing" of a cow. He finishes the act with some illustrations of the various methods of pitching, batting and base-sliding of various baseball celebrities.
The majority of the audience did not participate in the "kidding" worked up.
Vaudeville must be desperate to attach itself to this kind of "act." Also, vaudeville must be lifeless to endure it.
