The hit of the bill and probably the record for vaudeville in that position came with Ed Morton, "No. 2." Morton held up the performance three times during his turn, and had to sing eight songs. One would immediately conclude this killed the rest of the bill, but it did not, and it merely remains a matter of opinion whether Mr. Morton was too strong for the spot. He was placed there to be far enough away from Eddie Leonard and Co., next to closing, but Morton could have stepped into any position on the program and duplicated his tremendous hit.
