Felix Bernard

Felix Bernard, author of “Dardanella,” plays accompaniments and feeds Jack Duffy’s nut warbling effectively, and the act was well received, finishing strongly with a hot of dancing.

Nevins & Erwood

The coal man and maid. 15 min. in one. A man and woman who dance unusually well and receive plenty of applause for same. Their comedy however, does not get over, and the first eight min. of their act went by without a hand.

Crouch & Welch

Man and woman known as “that lively pair”. 16 minutes, full stage, including three minutes closing in One. Some good whirlwind dancing and good comedy. Lots of fun. Many good laughs.

Lloyd and Wells.

“Gentlemen From Dixie.” 12 Mins. One. Balfour Lloyd and Gilbert Wells have until lately been classed as “hoofers.” Bight now their routine takes in but two minutes of dancing and the balance is mostly devoted to comedy. The act opens with the boys as darkies, draped on a bench in slumber. Lloyd stirs himself, but his partner can’t be aroused until he hears the call of the crap-shooter, his buddy handling the little cubes. The bit Is made funny and Is done well. Dialogue drawl followed and a big laugh came with the “dodge brothers” gag, a line that has been claimed by several people. The boys handled a song, “I Got A Wonderful Gal,” very well. The number is a peculiar one, the lyric being draped around a real Jazzy tune.

Mason and Bailey.

15 Mini.; One. For some reason the majority of colored comedy teams start off by tossing threats of deadly assault at each other. Mason and Bailey, two men, are no exception save they are a bit funnier than the others. The argument starts when one tries to sing. The other with a brick in his digits says that his partner has a face that looks like no man’s land and he thinks he will kill the other. But the song goes anyhow and with it a parody on prohibition. From there on the men go into dances, each doing specialties until the finish. The first effort had one dancing with an imaginary partner and it is good. Later he does what he calls “Chasm/ Rainbows” and it went well enough for a repeat which was given. On second they went well. Good for three a day and perhaps a better spot on occasion.

Lew Brice & Barr Twins

17 min. This act was one of our biggest applause hits on the bill. It combines some well handled comedy and some very good dancing by all three. The girls make three changes of costumes presenting a very attractive picture. It is a high-class dancing act that will fit on any bill and went very well.

Bennett & Richards

17 min. “Dark Clouds.” Their novel opening furnished a big surprise and they went right through to one of the big laughing and applause hits of the bill. The eccentric dancing is a scream and all their comedy, which is well handled, brought results. They took several extra bow.

Lydell & Higgins

Two men and one woman work in one 20 min. before special drop. Comedy offering with a little dancing. Quite a little suggestive material in used in this act. After making some cute same was much better. Went very good.

McKay & Ardine

They have some very fine scenery and McKay is a very good dancer. A little of their comedy goes well but most of it is very sad. From a standpoint of entertainment the act would be well paid, even at present rate of prices, if they got one half of the salary that is being paid them. 18 minutes f.s. Could open and close in one.

Palfrey, Hall & Brown

Through the excellent work of a comedian who also does all the good bicycle riding the act gets over very well. The woman is a most indifferent dancer and the other man doesn’t do anything at all that is worth mentioning. Act decidedly over-paid, 12 minutes full stage.
