Recently of the Sharp Brothers and Fischer and Sharp. Works in full dress, making a very neat appearance and gives several song numbers of German, English and Yiddish characters. Carries a young man as a plant to show hypnotic powers, and sings to the young ladies in the boxes. Secured some good laughs and finished to strong applause. Eighteen minutes, in one.
Three men, black face, as the “Town Hall Minstrels.” A pretty fair singing and dancing act, that secures several strong laughs, and win out on dancing? Allright [sic] for an early place. Twenty-three minutes in one and a half.
Four men and two women in “Who is Brown?” Apparently a condensed version of “Temple’s Telegram.” A corking good legitimate comedy playlet presented capably by people of ability who are well adapted to the various roles. The act found great favor and was a genuine laughing hit. Finished strong. C.D.F. in 4, 30 min. (Syracuse)
“Elia.” 19 min, open full stage, goes to one, back to Full Stage. This little romantic drama is very beautifully presented and Miss Adams has excellent support. It gives her a chance to show her abilities as an actress as well as a violiniste and the Parisian Bohemian atmosphere is well counterfeited. Held the interest very well and make a good close.
14 min. in one. Advance applause. These two boys are certainly good entertainers, both of them having excellent voices, one of them being an expert pianist and both of them know how to put over a song in good shape, whether straight, coon dialect, Italian, Yiddish or otherwise. Went strong in this spot and compelled to give an encore.
Scene reception room in a private sanatorium. Company comprises two men and two women. A noted surgeon is about to operate on a friend who is seriously ill and in danger of dying when he learns through a letter and a telegram that the friend and his wife are in love with each other. The surgeon approaches his wife and although she denies his charges at first, finally she acknowledges they are true. The nurse enters and says the patient is ready for the operation. The surgeon’s wife begs him not to perform the operation but he says no one else can. She is afraid he will kill the young man. Despite her tearful pleadings he enters the operating room and performs on the patient, returning a short time later and tells her it was his most successful operation. He says the patient will be entirely recovered in few weeks. The wife thanks him and asks his forgiveness. He gives and then announces he will leave for South Africa as he is wanted there and not at home. Miss Brown takes full advantage of the many opportunities offered for emotional work. The piece is interesting from the start and there are many tense situations nicely drawn. The act went very good. C.D.F. 22 mins.
Four fine-looking young men, one in blackface, who harmonise very well in a number of popular and semi-popular songs. One of the best of the quartettes in the business. A little comedy from the blackface. In one.
Young man and woman who sing couple of songs and give an exposition of some of the modern dancing, such as the turkey-trot, the bunny-hug and Texas tommy. Seemed to please in this position. F.S.
15 minutes in one. Olio drop. These men made a splendid impression here to-day. They certainly have great voices, good songs, and created as mush of a sensation as any nest-to-closing act we have had in a long time.
11 minutes F.S. This act introduces May Wirth a real equestrian, and carries a lot of excess baggage as far as relatives are concerned. May Wirth is clever and does some sensational riding tricks. Her act is marred by the sad acting of a very bad clown (relative) and the care back dancing of a girl, whi [sic] has an “invisible” wire attached to her which can be seen half a mile away (also a relative) and a ring master who can’t crack a whip (also relative) Without this trio of hangers-on the act will go bigger that at present.
