In a musical comedy skit, “All Twins.” Scene represents a hotel corridor. It does not seem fair to severely criticise this number, while they are going well, and improvement is noticeable at every performance. The girls are pretty, nicely costumed, with good voices. The musical numbers are bright, with good dialogues. The act is bound to improve. 26 minutes.
Presenting a group of Australian cockatoos, in the regulation stunts, including “Fighting the Flames.” The birds are all well trained and seemed to hold the attention throughout. 10 minutes, full stage.
Three men in bounding table work, all of which went very well. Finish strong. Wood in five, 6 minutes.
Three men whose work is singing and piano and banjo playing. Went very well, but by no means the hit I expected from advance information. The fellow told me they were better than the Three White Kuhns must have been a “kidder.” Got along all right but not a genuine hit, finishing only fairly strong. Conservatory in 1, 18 min.
Two women, three men in melodramatic number, “Po White Trash Jinny”. This is a typical offering of its kind, with laughter and pathos intermingled. It is at least “different” and our New Year’s house seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Over drawn, perhaps, but a good if conventional story that is told in a way that holds interest. Miss Mortimer scored personally and her support was satisfactory. Takes one back to his “gallery days” when you believed everything you saw. Good strong finish. Special set in five. 24 minutes.
Two men and two women, singing, dancing and comedy “From Uncle Tom to Vaudeville.” Made a pretty good impression winning laughter and applause. Nothing big at the finish. Street in one. 14 minutes.
Two girls in skit “Broadway Life”—supposed to delineate the love affairs of two chorus girls. As a whole the act pleased, tho [sic] it is nothing to brag about. Finished fairly well. C.D.F. in three 17 minutes.
Two men and one woman in a skit called “Monday” credited to Cressy. It might as well be dubbed Chicago so far as rhyme or reason is concerned. Time consumed with talk that leads to nothing. The introduction of time honored “business” got by in good shape for comedy, but generally speaking, the act does not “belong” so far as our general line of shows is concerned. Special in four, close in one. 26 minutes.
Pianologuist. Does a burlesque on the conventional Comic opera, impersonating the usual characters of this form of amusement. Went very well and scored strong finish. Olio in one, 16 minutes.
Three men in hoop rolling and juggling act. The work is well done and the offering proved O.K. for opener, tho [sic] not remarkable. Garden in five, 8 minutes.
