15 minutes f.s. One of the best dancing acts, man and woman, that we played and altogether too good for an early spot on a bill. Went big.
42 min. F.S. Got a big advance hand today and went through the regulation handcuff and can-and-box trick to big applause. It was a capacity house and undoubtedly owing considerably to Houdini’s booking as he is always a success in Philadelphia. The future of his engagement will depend entirely upon the success of his challenges and the interest he arouses.
18 min. F.S., close in one. Same act as presented here before in the same way, and went just as strong with laughter and applause all the way through. Closed with the burlesque organist and preacher and the work in one with the saxophone trio which won immense applause.
20 min. in one. Advance applause. Plenty of life and ginger all through this act. Good vocal numbers interspersed with some very good stories by Gould which got big laughter and applause from all parts of the house. Closed strong with two encores.
“He Tried to be Nice.” 20 min. F.S. Advance applause. This happy little sketch was presented cleverly as ever by Mr. Abeles assisted by Charlotte Lander, who is very pretty and vivacious and gets the most out of her lines. Laughter throughout and closed strong.
“Bright Bits.” 17 min. F.S., close in one. Miss D’Armond makes a very pretty picture in three changes of costume and the pair have some bright lines, good songs and do some expert dancing that wins the applause. A classy little act in this spot on the bill, closing very well. Closed strong with their Spanish burlesque.
23 min. F.S. Owing to the non-arrival of their scene set in their jump from Ottawa to here, Callahan & St. George were compelled to go down ahead of Houdini instead of number five spot on the bill as programmed. The audience was a little restless waiting for Houdini, the show being long, but they held the spot all right and will go better tonight in this spot.
13 min. in one. Well known German comedians in some new material and travesties which went very well, ending with their beer-spilling finish which gets a big laugh. Among the best in the German dialect line and held the spot in good shape.
8 min. F.S. This is a very good athletic act, well presented, the boys giving a splendid exhibition of wrestling poses, ending with a wrestling match which brought big applause. Closed very well indeed.
7 min. in one. LeCroix did his well known hat stunt here assisted by a young lady who manages the bass, snare drum and traps, adding a little to the act. Fairly good applause and closed well.
