Russell Brothers

This is a mighty good aerial act and a corking good number with which to open a show. After seeing the bill this afternoon we discovered that is was absolutely necessary to move Houdini a little further up on the program and we put the Russells down to closing, where they went extremely well.

Kluting’s Animals

A very beautiful act, using small white dogs, rabbits, white cats and pigeons. Some of the work is rather unusual and the novelty of the combination makes it doubly effective. An act that could easily be featured almost anywhere. 13 Min. F.S.

“California”

This is a pretentious musical drama, but pretentious only scenic equipment and number of people employed. I don’t care much for the actors excepting in the case of comedy Englishman. The music is not attractive excepting in the case of one song. To make it worse, everybody seemed to be singing out of tune. As a whole the act is a disappointment. 30 Min. F.S.

McConnell & Simpson

In their new sketch, “The Right Girl.” A big laughing hit. 26 Min. F.S.

The Grazers

Novelty, musical and dancing act, which is well-known along the line. All right for a No. 2 but hardly strong enough for the No. 3 spot. 10 Min. Open F.S. Close in One.

Doc. O’Neil

I was very much surprised at this act. He didn’t reach the audience at all in No. 3 spot, moved up to this position for the night. I am inclined to agree with the audience. Can see very little merit in his work; consider him rather a poor imitation of James Francis Dooley. 13 Min. in One.

Leahy Brothers

Ring act of very small calibre. Known only locally and not fit for the rest of the circuit. 8 Min. F.S.

Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth

50 minutes f.s. Palace. Their “Musical Surprise Party” fully justified its name to-day, judging by the manner in which these people were received. We sold out the house at both performances, and the audiences were loath to allow them to leave the stage. Every number was strongly applauded, and their finish was very, very big.

El Cota

18 minutes olio in one. Unquestionably the best xylophone player we have. Held this spot in excellent shape at both shows to-day.

Bert Kalmar and Jessie Brown

18 minutes f.s. special draperies with 5 minute close in one. One of the daintiest and prettiest dancing acts we play. Went very well this afternoon, and were nothing short of a great big hit to-night.
