The Novellos

10 people. 2 elephants, dogs and ponies. The act makes a fine showing on the stage. The acrobats and animals are doing two or three different stunts in various groupes [sic] at the same time giving an effect not unlike the ‘one ring.’ The work is all high class and novel and keeps the audience rooted to their seats. Undoubtedly one of the showiest circus acts we have ever played.

Hill & Whitaker

Man and woman. C.D.F. Time 13. The woman has a drop barytone [sic] voice which makes a hit with the audience. She sings coon songs especially well. Her harp solo accompanied by whistling, a hit. Banjo playing by man fair. A good act altogether bringing frequent applause.

Bradna & Derrick

Equestrian: 10 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 10:18. This is a splendid closing feature. The horses are beautiful and everything about the act is thoroughly showmanlike. The woman’s costuming is very fetching, and her work shows long experience. The applause was frequent and the finish was very strong.

Waterbury Bros. & Tenny

“Harmony Island”: 27 min. F.S. close in 1. On at 8:12. Two work straight and the other blackface in an eccentric costume the coat of which is covered in medals.  There is a good deal od comedy in the act and the musical work is up to the standard.  This act can always hold a good spot in the bill.  The close in one with the brass instruments got particularly good hand.

Darras Brothers

Athletic: 10 min. F.S. On at 7:51. This is an excellent athletic act, rapid and finished.  Both work in regulation French silk breeches and white vests.  The head-to-head balancing was very expert.  The balancing of the younger man on his head on the swinging trapeze bar is certainly wonderful and got very good applause.  The finish with the ground tumbling got strong applause and curtain call.

Ben Beyer & Brother

Bicyclists: 13 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 7:07. This is an excellent opening act for any house.  Beyer’s works eccentric and the younger an straight, and their feats are skillful, winning good applause.  Starts off the show in rapid fashion.  The bicycle business is a little faded now, but with acts that are strong as this there is no fear of good reception.

Minnie Seligman and William Bramwell

On at 3:37, 20 min full stage.  One of the best comedy sketches of the season, and I have “Peaches” and “Cherie” in mind when I say this.  It is also played to perfection, both by Miss Seligman and Mr. Bramwell, while Miss Holt, as the maid, deserves particular attention.  It got countless laughs and ended with a scream.

Ruth & Allen and Co.

Ruth Allen and Co. On at 2:36, 24 min, full stage.  Playing “We Need the Money”, rather a crude sketch, which would be much better played.  It seems rather amateurish, bit the people are bright and neat-looking and succeeded in getting a number of laughs and considerable applause this afternoon.  I do not think it will ever develop more speed.

Dora Ronca

On at 2 o’clock, 10 min, in 1; 3 shows.  Might well be named “The Couched Violinist”.  Plays her audience better than she does her violin, but got there in good shape this afternoon.  Makes a pleasing stage picture, and apparently knows that she looks remarkably well in red stocking.

Keene and Adams

On at 1.41, 19 min. in 1; 3 shows. Man and woman who make appearance, although why he wears a Pierrot costume is beyond my comprehension. Excellent singers and graceful dancers. The principal things lacking in the act seem to be action and ginger. The people are clever enough to do far better work. With their present act I do not think they could hold better than the number two spot anywhere.
