Le Brun Grand Opera Trio

This is one of the best singing acts we play, and it went very big with those who take delight in excellent vocal melody. 16 min. Open with prison drop. Close FS.

Mason & Keeler

Playing ‘A Hero.’ This is an exceptionally good act with Mason in a part that fits him like a glove. There is plenty of slang in it, and in a way it suggests the politician of Clayton White. 20 min, FS.

Bernier and Stella

Refined singers and dancers. Man and woman, both working straight. The girl is very pretty, and has a neat appearance on the stage. They both have good voices, but their dancing doesn’t amount to much. Went fair. 11 minutes in one. Three shows.

The Pelots

Juggling: 18 min. F.S. close in 1.  3 shows. On at 7:30, Man and Woman, the former working eccentric booby, and the woman in dainty white costume.  Well known act with very little variations from their previous work.  Include some juggling, catching apples on the fork thrown from audience, etc.  Close in one was very good, with one curtain call.

Kitty Traney

12 min. F.S. 2 shows. On at 9:16. Comes on the stage in a little flowery jinriksha drawn by a pretty pony which does one or two little stunts and is unharnessed. Miss Traney then balances the cart on her chin. Afterwards she proceeds to some juggling of plates, balls and balancing a large bottle which, upon pulling a string, falls apart and discloses a little dog, which then performs. After this the pony reappears, while Miss Traney does the Lalla Selvini act by disrobing to fleshings, juggling with her costume. The dog reappears and does some stunts through the hoops. The decorated cart is brought back again drawn by the pony with two hoops tied to his front feet through which two little dogs jump in very expert manner while the pony moves around the stage. The pony then walks off the stage on his hind feet, Miss Traney driving the cart making a pretty picture. Closed good.

Holden’s Manikins

22 min, F.S., 2 shows. On at 8:04. This is a children’s feature. I doubt whether it would be so well received at any other than about Christmas time, but it quite won the house. The manikins performs various simple stunts, such as dancing, Punch and Judy comedy, etc. The finish of the act was a spectacular feature without moving figures, which did not run as smoothly as it should have done. However, the act will certainly please the little folks and it cannot be conceived how the wooden manikins can be manipulated so life-like. Holden got a good hand on his appearance after the act.

Edwards Davis Co.

‘The Unmasking’: 21 min, F.S. (2 scenes) 2 shows. On at 8:39. This is the second time this act has been presented here. It is very deftly constructed and spectacular in setting and costume, and although somewhat stilted and stagy at times, nevertheless holds the interest of the audience through the scene in the green room of a London theatre and afterwards the melodramatic one on the Bosworth Field. The audience gave it respectful attention and once on a while small hand. Close was strong with five curtain calls.

Lowell B. Drew

12 min. in 1, 3 shows. On at 7:18. Local boy, who used to connected with this house and who has a considerable local following. He has been working around in the smaller houses, finally appearing in Boston and Providence with success. Gave imitations of Jack Norworth, Sam Bernard, Harry Lauder, ‘Music Master’ and George Evans, all of them very clever and got good applause, particularly the ones of Harry Lauder, Warfield and Evans. Think that he will do very well this week. Press very encouraging.

Cliff Gordon

“The German Politician.” In one.  Time 14 min. Mr. Gordon’s monologue is better than ever and he scored the laughing hit of the show.  His stuff is full of screams and the people would not let him go until he made a curtain speech this afternoon.

Edward Clark and His Winning Widows

Six girls and Clark, F.S., special back drop. Time 24 min. Some fast and entertaining work, but entirely too long for the material. Songs, dances and some race track talk including Mr. Clark’s ‘The Piker.’ The audiences appeared to like the act, although it is pretty tame, and offers little originality. Close in one.
