Leona Thurber & Picks

In some respects I like this the best of any of the Pickanninie acts we play.  Miss Thurber makes a very nice appearance and the pickanninies do some very good singing and dancing.  Bright lively act, and held down this spot satisfactorily.  12 min. in 1, 2 shows.

Chefalo & Capretta

Italian sleight-of-hand performer.  Very nice little act for the 3-a-day section.  NO fault to find with it at all, it is nicely dressed and they do some good sleight-of-hand work.  16 min. open full stage, close in one, 3 shows.

Spooks Minstrels

I was led to believe that this was a great act.  On the contrary it is a frost, and is not worth half the money.  The comedy of the act consists of, when the vocal numbers do not get much applause they have to TAKE up the encores on account of the moving pictures.  The singing is very ordinary, and I hear the whole act is not nearly what the original was.  A few hands on the finish, owing to the “Red White and Blue” gag.  Never again.  16 minutes, full stage.  Five minutes close in one.

Ainsly Scott

Man who claims he is the oldest actor in Harness in America.  Appears in full dress suit, changes to tramp and recites the face on the bar room floor.  Quick change to Virginius recitation introducing young woman in Costume as Virginia.  He is a splendid looking man with a magnificent voice, and looks more like fifty than eight-five years old.  Both his readings got good applause, and the act is well worth the money.  17 minutes, full stage.  Could close in one.

Rowlani

Colored man in comedy juggling act.  Makes up as a white tramp, and it is impossible for the audience to know he is a colored man.  Some of his tricks are good, while others are old.  However at the price I am paying him, it is a good three show act.  15 minutes, full stage.  Short close in one.

Overture

“The Village Orchestra.”  This selection made a great big hit, and got a big encore as good as a $75.00 act.  I am making a big feature of these Comedy overtures.

4 Nelson Comiques

Acrobatic Comedians.  This act deserves a medal for being the roughest slap-stick acrobatic act on the stage.  Rather disappointed.  Will try and tone them down.  Would not care to play them again.  11 min.

The Francelias

Belgium Hercules.  It is a pity to open the show with this set.  Strong enough for a feature in a small house.  Most all his work is clear-cut and they appreciated every stunt.  Big applause on the finish.  10 min.-full stage

Black and Jones

Colored comedians, singers and dancers.  There is no talking in the act, but it is certainly a lively, gingery team.  They made a big hit this afternoon.  11 min. in 1, 3 shows, altho it belongs to the 2-a-day class.

Cressy & Dayne

In their new sketch “The Wyoming Whoop.”  Cressy is one of the “Wise” ones who, instead of letting down on his productions, goes up.  His scenery and props for this act I think break the record for Vaudeville.  Almost everything is perfect.  His reproductions of the original Franklin Press is splendid.  The sketch is a laugh from start to finish, and never lacks interest.  Cressy’s lines are inimitable and he is splendid.  Miss dayne is of course- Miss Dayne but feeds Cressy as well as usual.  The idea of a New Hampshire man being editor of a wild west paper is novel, and makes a great background for the act.  Cressy’s makeup is very good, and his touches of pathos are better than usual.  Without doubt the best thing he has ever written.  24 minutes, full stage.
