In 1. Time 21. A satirical sketch entitled the “Land Agent”. We are lead to a fake town as “Lemon City”. That tells the whole tale – Lemon from start to finish. One of the worst we have had all season. The idea of the sketch might succeed with two good comedians, but some of the jokes have whiskers, and the rest are old enough to know better. There are, however, one or two good laughs during the long twenty-one minutes.
Eight pretty girls and Miss Louise Montrece. Time 14. Open in 2 close F.S. Four scenes. This is far and away the best “girl act” we have had for a long time, and we have had a lot lately. The girls are all good looking and Miss Montrose makes a good leader. The costumes are pretty and unusual and the eccentric dancing is very attractive. The close with girls in heavy rain coats and rubber coats while the “real” rain is falling on them scores heavily with the audience. Three encores. The big hit of the show.
In one. Time 15. Lola cotton and her father. The man passes through the audience asking for letters, cards, watches, rings or anything to be described. Lola tells what the article is instantly. She also tells addresses on letters, when they were mailed, etc. The act makes a big hit and it is one of the best “mystifiers” we have had in a long time.
Wire artists: Three people and a cracking good act which I think suffered as a closer for the reason that the show is very quiet all through and hardly wakes them up sufficiently to maintain interest. AM going to place Gaston & Greene earlier on the bill tonight and Tannen before this act to see if I cannot get a stronger finish. I think this will help the Holloways who are really of unusual merit. 18 minutes, palace.
Easily the hit of the bill. A very clever fellow who went big. He is as good as ever and undoubtedly in a class of his own as a single entertainer. I think he will become a standard favourite here as many people remember him from last season and he received a reception upon his entrance. 19 minutes in one.
The Minstrel Boys. Our audience does not seem to care for this act to any extent. They went about the same as last season which was only fair. It strikes me that they waste a great deal of the time in unnecessary talk is which no especial points are made. The singing and dancing takes well enough but their talk seems to put a damper on the other efforts. 21 minutes in one.
Song readings in one, 12 minutes. This lady was a big hit with us. This is the second time we have played her and I do not hesitate to say that she gets as much applause as anything we play in one and it is a great surprise to me that she does not get more work. Her salary is reasonable and her act is good.

‘Comedy Sketch.’ ‘A Tale of Turkey.’ Man and woman. This act fooled me. It looked awfully blue during the early part of the same and I thought it was to be a failure but finally things were worked up considerably and the act finished very satisfactorily. Nothing out of the ordinary in either the offering or the people as they present it and would only term it of fair value. 20 minutes plain interior.
