Mr. Dixey and Miss Nordstrum in a very good version of David Garrick. IT went very well, in fact I was agreeably disappointed as I was afraid it would be away over my audiences heads. Mr. Dixey’s light Comedy is just as good as ever, and Miss Nordstrum is charming. 21 minutes, full stage.
Monologist and singing comedian. Return date here. Late of the morning telegraph. Just as big a hit as many men getting two and three times his salary. Why he is not kept busy, I can’t understand at his salary. His last song got five encores. 18 minutes in one three shows.
This act is a sort of a “Lemon”. The man makes a speech. Carlotta does a few ancient bicycle tricks and then comes the “Loop the Loop” stunt which makes them gasp for a second and it is all over and then you wonder what you saw and exclaim again “Stung”. I doubt if this act is worth the money at any time. 12 minutes full stage.
Man and woman talking and singing comedy. They make a very nice appearance and their voices are excellent. In the opening part of the act the talk is a little tame. Material ancient. The indian song and dance is the merit of to the act. Some very good applause on the finish. 17 minutes in one.
Scene represents an office with the girls playing on typewriters singing appropriate music etc. Johnny Stanley is well known and is assisted by the girls. He gives his various imitations throughout the sketch. The girls are pretty and nicely costumed. The music is all new with the exception of Gus Edward’s best bet “School Days”. The act needs plenty of work and may develope. They did fairly well this afternoon.
Well known. Received some little applause after each of their selections. Have advanced about one point as they use pistol shots the same as the four Avolos and special light effects which give them a pretty good finish. 12 minutes in one.
This act is also well known and feel if they would cut out about four or five minutes of their talk and do more singing and dancing in fact I think they could do their whole act in one which would make it one of the best eccentric dancing acts in the business. This was thoroughly demonstrated this afternoon as their comedy received very little laughter but the dancing received hearty applause. The only trouble is Mr. Rooney does not do enough of it. 16 min. C.D.F. Close in one. 4 min.
This act is very well known and was pleased to see it go as well as ever. There is no doubt that Papinta has got all the mirror dancers beaten to death. Received hearty applause to all her dances. Two curtain calls at close. 15 Min. Full stage.
Billed a Vaudeville Surprise. Man and woman. Singing and talking. I cannot see where a surprise part comes in, as Mr. Clinton did more laughing at his jokes than his audience did. The only hit of the act is their last song, where Mr. Clinton leaves the stage and walks up the isle singing “Good Bye.” They will have hard work making good in any other spot, than where they are. 15 Min. In one.
There are five men and four women in this act. They use four upright and one grand piano. The act consists of singing, dancing and piano music. TO my mind it is the best act that Lasky has yet put out. It has more ginger, snap and fire in it than any other act of this firm that has been along here. I would consider it a cracker jack. Special set in 3. 20 minutes.
