Ziska & King

Magic: 20 min.  F.S.  2 shows.  On at 7:45.  This is a good act in the early two-a-day section.  Ziska’s impersonation of the late Alexander Hermann adds greatly to the at.  There is a good deal of expert magic, the comedy work of King keeps the audience in good humour.  The stage setting is quite elaborate, and also adds to the value of the act.  Not so strong an act as their previous one, the work being long drawn out and dull in spots.  Closed well.

Gertrella “Maid if the Rhine”:

14 min.  Open in 1, close F.S. 2 shows.  On at 7:16. Carries her own drop which helps the act.  Appears in very affective costume and sings two songs very indifferently.  She then proceeds to the part of her act on the trapeze.  This is good and gets repeated applause and a very good finish, with a curtain call.  She should be limited to the single song number in the opening of her act, as the soubrette part of her work is not up to the gymnastics.

Four Fords

Somehow [sic] another these people failed to make their usual hit here, not scoring at all until they got down to their ‘challenge’ dance at the finish. While this made a hit it did not go nearly as strong as on former occasions. One reason for this I believe is because they are doing identically the same work they have done for the two seasons past, not even changing the music excepting in their opening song. They have introduced however a couple of scenes that have no particular fitness to their act, one representing Hammerstein’s Theatre, New York, and the other a planation in the South. They add a little to the effectiveness of the act however, but I would want to see them introduce something new before I would play them again. 15 min, opening in 2, 2 -1/2, close full stage, 2 shows.

May Tully and Company

“Stop, Look and Listen.” I like this act very much, and Miss Tully is a very clever woman.  The sketch in itself is very good and of course Miss Tully’s work being the whole thing in the act.  Went big.  24 minutes in one.

Tyson and Brown

Refined Singing and Dancing Act.  This is a very good little act.  They are both very clever people.  The girl has a very good voice, and the man is a very clever dancer, and they are very neatly dressed and the act is sure to make good anywhere.  They were shifted down from one to 4th.  12 minutes in one.  Three shows.

The Misses Delmore

Vocal and Instrumental Selections.  I heard so much talk about this act not being good.  I think it is a very good act, and they are very neatly dressed, and of course their singing does not amount to much, but they managed to get by.  Went very well.  16 minutes in one.  Two shows.

Philbrooks and Reynolds

In a comedy sketch entitled “His Steno.” Mr. Reynolds plays the part is a German Comedian, and he does it very well and the woman is also good.  A good act for the three show section. 15 minutes, full stage.  Three shows.

Emmett Corigan & Co.

In the serio-comedy entitled: ‘My Wife’s Picture.’ Was under the impression that this was an entirely new vehicle but it is the same sketch as presented by William J. Kelly entitled: ‘Bachelor’s Hall’ with the name changed. While Kelly played it dramatic, this fellow gets more comedy out of it. Got some few laughs in spots. Will probably change it up in the bill tonight. 15 minutes, full stage.

Little Hip

The elephant’s work on the stage is very ordinary, though what he does is thoroughly first-class and shows perfect training. He got quite a number of laughs with some scattered applause. As an advertising medium he will be a wonder. 10 minutes, full stage.

Mathews and Ashley

In their Hebrew comedy “A Smash-up in Chinatown”.  They had all they could do to bring them back to life after the Corigan sketch.  They were treated kindly, however, and managed to get quite a number of laughs with some fairly good applause on their finish.  16 minutes in one.
