Fetching Bros.

A garden of music. Two men in a very novel and good musical act. They play several numbers using cornets, bells, musical flower pots, etc. The act went big and must be recorded as having made a very substantial hit. The setting is elaborate and pretty and out of the ordinary. There is nothing remarkable about their music or the way it is played but the manner of introducing the same makes a favorable impression. They finished strong and took a recall or two. 19 minutes special set.

Kitabanzai Japs

F.S. Special, elaborate drop. This well known troupe of Japanese acrobats and jugglers appears to please more than ever. Besides being clever performers they out some good humorous stuff into their act which keeps the audience in good humor. They do the regular line of Jap stunts which make very good closers to hold the people in their seats. There is nothing particularly wonderful about their work, but there in no doubt that they pleased well this afternoon.

Howard & North

Two men. In one, time 17 minutes. Presenting ‘Those Were Happy Days.’ One of the best and brightest sketches in vaudeville. While fun is the predominate characteristic, there is a touch of true pathos which comes in very effectively and which brings a burst of applause from the audience. This act is good any time on any bill.

Five English Madcaps

Palace in 4. Five girls. Time 13 min. This is a dainty act introducing, acrobatic stunts, handsprings, some dancing, and a little good singing. The girls work fast and hold the attention of the people. The act looked very good to me; but the audience did not give it much applause.

Ben Reinhold

Mono. 12 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 6:58. This man suffered a distinct fall-down. He has neither voice nor delivery to hold an audience. His line of stuff is only fairly good, but the man absolutely lacks personality. Once in a while the audience tittered a little, but he could not get his audience at all. Gallery started to guy him. Closed very weak. Will be buried forthwith. The man who put this act on at Philadelphia ought to be punished.

Alpha Trio

Hoop-rollers. 16 min. F.S. 3 shows. On at 6:42. This act is much improved since its last appearance here. It is now one of the best-dressed and most skillful hoop acts in the business. Two men and a woman, one of the men works comedy. They use a dark back drop which heightens the effect of the brilliantly painted hoops. Some of their stunts are absolutely new. Would make a very good opener for any house.

Marcel’s Pictures

Living art-studies. 20 min, FS, 2 shows. On at 9:15. These act studies are very beautiful, and think that the revival will take well with the public. The lighting and artistic effects are stunning, and each one of them get a good hand, two or three of them a very strong hand, particularly the Angelus, Sicily, and Washington at Valley Forge. Think it will draw well with our crowds. Press particularly favorable toward them this morning.

Wynn & Lewis

‘Sophomore and Freshman.’ 19 min. in 1. 2 shows. On at 8:56. Advance hand. These are Philadelphia boys, consequently their work stronger than otherwise would have been. They have some very amusing material and make excellent use of it. Closed very strong with two curtain calls. It is a shame that these boys cannot patch up their differences and remain together, as they are certain to duplicate the success of Smith and Campbell as a new nationally famous team, although at the present time in many respects their work is better than latter.

Clark and Bradley

Sister, S & D. 10 min. in 1. 3 shows. On at 7:10. Two pretty girls. Very good little sister act indeed. They sing well and their dancing is a delight. Received liberal applause, making a good presentation, both of them being good dressers. The closing feature, the dances of all countries, won deservedly good hand.

Frederick Bros, & Burns

22 min. F.S. close in 1. 2 shows.  On at 8:04.  Two men and a woman, one man playing comedian.  Act consists of various selections on cornet, trombone, saxophones, musical glasses, banjo, tomato cans, etc.  There is some good comedy in the act.  Closed well with the girl-drummer and two brass instrumentalists.  This is a good deal of a novelty and while not musically great, the comedy element carries it to success.
