Mr. & Mrs. Frederick Bacon

Novelty banjoists. This is the only act in the 3-a-day section that is worth having in the bill really. The man of this team is quite an expert banjo player and drummer and the woman is passably good as an accompanist. Worth playing in the 3-a-day section or number two in the smaller houses. 13 min. in 1, 2 shows.

Our Boys in Blue

16 mins, F.S., 2 shows. As a closing feature for any house, this act is simply great. The drilling is remarkably skillful and swift of action, but the special novelties, (including the work with Gatling gun, the sinking of a gun boat, the signal lights, and all the other military specialties) added thrilling interest to the act and won tremendous applause. There is no doubt that this act will be talked about and bring a great many people to the theatre who enjoy something that thrilling, spectacular and patriotic. Went with a hurrah and sent people out happy.

Bransby Williams

“Dickens’ Characters”: 26 min. F.S. 2 shows.  This man is a great artist and his act is very high-class and interesting.  Each impersonation of Dickens’ characters seemed to be very life-like and adhered to the traditions of the novelists’ favourite illustrations.  The MacCawber and the Miser were particularly strong.  Think that he will draw business with the orchestra crowd.  Act a little over the heads of the gallery, but wins big with the better class of patrons.  Press very enthusiastic this morning.

Felix & Caire

‘Just Kids.’ 20 min, FS, close in 1. 2 shows. These are two mighty clever children. Opens  their act with a little scene in a parlor where two kids are left alone by their parents. They proceed to amuse themselves by dressing up and giving imitations of well known stage celebrities. The imitations are remarkably well given considering the age of the children. The boy is particularly clever with his sprightly dancing. Got strong hand through out and closed big. These little people have a great future.

The Three Leightons

Comedy and Vocal: 18 min. F.S. close in 1. 3 shows.  Three boys, two working comedy.  Open with scene in hotel bedroom.  The comedy is fair, the song a little better.  The close in 1 is good, introducing some excellent dancing.  This last got a strong hand, making an acceptable finish.

Allyn & Shuman

Sister act: 9 min. in 1. 3 shows.  Two women.  This is only a fair vocal act. The girls dress well, but they are limited to a knowledge of singing.  Each selection got but a weak hand.  The close, with the red, white and clue costume, with “the kind applause” song, saved the act.  Closed weak.

Mayme Gehrue & Co.

A distinct falldown so far as the act is concerned.  The audience here did not care for same in fact many of same ridiculed it.  Were it not for the dancing of Miss Gehrue there would have neem nothing to save it from positive failure.  It is overdrawn, western in scene, called “June” which title role is played by Miss Gehrue.  She amounts to little in the line of acting and judging from reception here was not well though it.  If she had worked alone and in one, singing a song and introducing unquestionably excellent dancing she would no doubt have scored heaving.  Dancing O.K. but aside from that there was nothing doing. 30 minutes.  Special act 5.

Morrow & Schellburg

Man and woman, sing act, Happy’s Million.  Special drop representing street in western town.  The laughing song of the male member of the team went well nit that is about all that can be said for this set.  There is nothing out of the ordinary about either member of the ream and the audience did not care much about them.  The story of the act is but a slender thread and of no consequence.  12 minutes in one.

Willie Weston

Singing Comedian.  This is a very good act.  This fellow gave impersonations of Eddie Leonard, Bert Williams and Cliff Gordon all of which were good.  He has a good voice and a good personality.  Went big.  16 minutes in one.

Frank McCrea

The World’s Greatest Rifle Shot, assisted by Roy Poole, the man with the iron nerve.  Well known act.  This act got big applause here last night, and it is the best act of its kind in the business.  Went big.   9 minutes, full stage.  Two shows.
