Minstrel-comedian. He made a hot here going better than ever before. His monologue should be purged of a couple of its gags. One is about sales ladies getting $4 a week and paying $5 a week for board. The other about a woman slipping on the banisters and coming downstairs. 21 in one.
Better than Loie Fuller. Her fire and snow dance as well as her flower dance was pleasing, particularly to lady portion of the audience. She gives all that has been advertised and is a very good card. 14 min, FS.
One man and two women, all clever in a clever comedy entitled ‘Paris.’ There is one spot in this comedy that savors of burlesque house business. It is the talk between the saloon keeping politician and Miss Stuart. It just passed muster here. 30 min, FS.
24 min, 5 in one at close. Plain chamber in 3. Their familiar act ‘A Winter Session’ which did seem to raise the people to the point of applause, their familiarity with the act being no doubt the reason for this. Will move them up the bill tonight, changing their places with that of Kelly & Kent. 2 shows.
Drop in one, 13 min. Received a light reception, the first of the day. His act is a familiar one on the circuit, but this being his first appearance here, the first impression he made was good, being of good appearance and an intelligent and clever talker, able to entertain with talk the different impersonations, as well as with the impersonator, each one which was well received and enabled him to close very well. 3 shows.
CDF, 21 min. In ‘A Hit of Nonsense.’ A sketch, the familiarity of the players with which was not apparent. Without doubt this being the first appearance on any stage was the reason for the defect. McNeil however, displayed considerable ability as a comedian. The girl is light for the part, she plays and while it cannot be classed among the good 2-a-day sketches it is probable that when it is strongly whipped into line it may be an addition to the acts that we are on the lookout for. 2 shows.
Garden in 4, 16 min. Two men, one dressed as woman impersonator. Eldor’s juggling work being fully up to his satisfactory standard, the rapidity with which he works and the accuracy of his style earning him good applause and carrying him off in good shape. The comedy incident to act amounts to nothing whatever. 3 shows.
Drop in one, 10 min. Two young Philadelphia girls singing two songs and closing with clog waltz dance, Each of the songs were very well received as well as the dancing. The act closed to good applause proved a satisfactory opening act. 3 shows.
3 shows, 23 min, in 2 (carry their own drop.) Young man and girl presenting a sketch of East side life, something in the lines of Williams and Tucker’s work, but not in the class of the latter, of course. It is pathetic throughout and does not make a good opening set. Shall probably shift them with Owley and Randall for the balance of the week. It is a pleasing little sketch and will probably develop into something better.
This is a very novel act in which the performers impersonate toys which awaken and go through some clever acrobatic work. The two men do all the work and the woman simply looks pretty and helps fill up the stage. It lends a little atmosphere to the performance. 12 min, full stage, 2 shows. Carry their own scenery.
