Mary Desmond

Irish vocalist. I was very agreeably surprised with this act as she does not sing badly at all and certainly makes a most attractive appearance and has the good sense to sing the class of music that while not cheap does not go over the heads of the audience. Good singing act. 12 min in one, 2 shows.

E. Rousby’s Electrical Review

This is one of the prettiest features I think we have had in this house. While there was not any of applause at the finish of the act, there was a great deal of it during the performance and many comments of approval were heard. I am sure that it will draw us money. 15 min, full stage, 2 shows.

Murphy and Francis

Colored singing and dancing comedians. This is the ‘Murphy’ of formerly ‘Murphy & Slater’ who has now a women working with him and I believe the act is an improvement over the old act. The man is certainly a clever and unctuous comedian and a very eccentric dancer. They went very strongly indeed. 15 min in one, 3 shows.

Rene & Smith

Acrobatic comedians and barrel jumping, The acrobatic work of this man is very acceptable, their comedy however is forced and grows tiresome and I am having them omit some of it and hope to improve the act thereby. As a three a day act should be classed as good. 14 min, full stage, 2 shows.

Gordon Eldred

Comedian and mimic who sings a couple of topical songs and some funny stories and imitations. Is all right also in an early portion of the bill and from a three a day standpoint may be classed as fairly good. 14 min in one, 3 shows.

Haidaburns Family

Russian dancers. I don’t think much of this act myself but it went pretty well with the audiences today and is no doubt all right to open the show. 9 min, full stage, 3 shows.

Boniface and Waltzinger

Presenting their sketch ‘The Woman who Hesitates is Won,’ which gives Miss Waltzinger an opportunity to show her voice to a good advantage, and Boniface a chance to display his ability as a comedian. 20 min, full stage.

Burke, La Rue & Inkey Boys

We consider this a good act. They have made a great hit, and received many curtain calls. The two colored boys are especially good. Burke and La Rue sustain their parts finely. Dancing and singing good. Full stage. 25 min.

Mr. & Mrs. Bobyn’s

‘Counsel for the Defense.’ This act is well known, and requires no particular comment; while it has been several times, yet, the audience never lose interest in it. Goes very strong, a good act for this house. Full stage, 33 min.

Poettinger’s Swedish Ladies Quintette

They appear in National costume, carry their own setting, which makes a very pretty stage picture. They are very fair singers, and the act throughout is a pleasing one to the greater part of the audience. Full stage, 15 min.
