Ruth Nelta

Drapery in one. 9 min. An attractive, well dressed girl billed as a coon song singer but who cannot sing. It may be that she was, and it did seem that she was suffering from a cold to-day, but if this is a fair sample of the class of work she offers she certainly cannot make good in the position she is now in she will be moved up for to-night and for the balance of the week. However, she gained a fair share of applause at the close. 3 shows.

Sylvano

Wood in 4, 11 min. European equilibrist whose work is of itself commendable and satisfactory to the audience to-day. He was handicapped, however by his property man who as the centre of the stage a good portion of the time but who did not seem to know his duties to-day, and some of his slow movements I feared would result in the act being guyed. Sylvano’s good work and clever electric lighting of the set enabled him to get by very satisfactorily and to close to really good applause. 2 shows.

Bean and Hamilton

Garden in 3, 10 min. 2 young men who seemed to impress the audience with their value and the aggressive manner in which they worked and their pleasing style. They did some difficult barrel jumping feats, not missing once, earning a considerable applause throughout the act and got applause at the close. They could easily hold down a better position in our bill. 3 shows.

John J. Desmond

Garden in 4, 10 min. This young man who played our show a couple of weeks ago returned to-day and got by with more satisfaction. This is doubtless due to the fact that he did not have to follow a bag punching act as he did on his previous visit. His muscular posing does not add any value to his act but his bag punching is rapid, clever and accurate. Gained considerable applause and closed to fair applause, even better than we expected. 3 shows.

Kennedy & James

CDF, 15 min, close in 1 – 5 mins. A skit that has played over the circuit and which has sufficiently criticised. It need only be added that little of their stuff was satisfactorily received to-day. While they extracted some applause there seemed to be no regret when the act closed. It might be called a fair opening act but nothing better. 3 shows.

Edmund Day and Company

2 shows, 27 min, full stage. Fist time here for this actor and his assistants. They do an original sketch of sentiment and humor, entitled  ‘Shipmates,’ which decidedly out of the usual run of short plays, being more pretentious in every way than any of the work of Mr. Day that has been done here. It is fairly well acted and the stage setting is exceptional. At the close of the strong show they held the audience remarkably well, few leaving during the progress of the sketch.

LaVeen and Cross

3 shows, 14 min open in 3, close in 1. One of the best acrobatic acts played this house for many years, judging by the favor accorded them by the people who pay money. They do not do anything exceptionally original, but the work is executed with case and grace that makes it appear attractive to those who understands its difficulties. The muscular exhibition was excellent. A better act than nine-tenths of those in the 2-show section.

The World’s Trio (Perry Ryan, Emma Wood and Lulu Ryan)

2 shows, open and close in 1. Has been reviewed by managers of other houses, therefore very little comment is required from me. Did not find anything objectionable in the opening by the two girls, in which they impersonate East side types, but did cut out of Perry Ryan’s monologue his suggestion of sending all the mothers-in-law to Hell and that there were no women in Paradise, both of which are coarse and not funny. The act did not go strong and should be in the 3-show section at $50 per week less than they are now receiving. Costumes do not components for lack of voice or good looks.

Margaret Webb

3 shows, 11 min, in 1. Another first appearance here. Pretty girl, modest appearing, and neatly costumed; in addition to which she has a good voice and her selections are made with judgment. Went well and will stand for a better place, if it is necessary to move her down.

The Two Avolos

Perpendicular bar act. This set was a little disappointment. They do three or four very good tricks but the most of the time is filled with some very tiresome comedy and as the act only runs seven minutes between the waits and the comedy referred to there is only about two minutes of real good work. As it is new here it is probably all right but I would not care for it again. 7 min, full stage, two shows.
