John W. World and Mindell Kingston

2 shows, 20 min. open in 1, go in 3, and close in 1. Eccentric comedian and comic opera soubrette. Scored a solid hit all through their act. World is decidedly a clever chap and gave some new character work, with songs. Miss Kingston is a capital singer and a lively dancer. In fact, as a vocalist, she excels most of the straight singers whom we have had here of late.

Martin Brothers

2 shows, 14 min. in 1. Xylophone players. These instruments, when well played, as in this instance, always score a hit with our audiences. Today was no exception to the general rule.

Max Waldon

2 shows, 14 min. full stage. European female impersonator; possibly the greatest artist in the business. Makes many changes of costume, sings well and dances gracefully. Big hit.

Vernon

2 shows, 20 min. open in 4, close in 1. Ventriloquil comedian, using the usual number of dummies, and going about as well as similar acts always do in this house.

Ed Gray

2 shows, 16 min. in 1. Monologue comedian and singer. Has nothing new to offer and the old material is becoming threadbare. Did not go so strong as expected, and will be shifted with the dog.

Hickey and Nelson

2 shows, 10 min. full stage. Man and woman, in acrobatic comedy and dancing. They did not go very strong with the afternoon audience, but were on rather early, which cannot be remedied this week. It was apparent that they are not nearly so strong with us as when they came here first, and there has been absolutely nothing new added to their work.

Foster & “Mike”

3 shows, 15 min. in 1. Splendidly trained black-and-tan dog, who performs a variety of tricks, the best being the sounding of a bell while a tune is being played by the master. It is a capital small act.

Reed and Shaw

3 shows, 10 min. full stage. In acrobatic act, the most of the work being performed on suspended rings. Both men are splendidly developed, and give a fine exhibition, but the efforts of Shaw to be comic are almost painful. The act should have a better place on the program, but it is not possible this week. It would be well to note, also, that they are repeated with too great frequency, as they were here in November last.

Frankie St. John and John LaFavre

3 shows, 10 min. open in 2, close in 1. Singing and dancing specialities; better than the average act of this kind and would go further down in an ordinary show.

Congo Bongo Act

The Evolution of the Negro. This is a new act, and the performers are colored boys; eight in number. They come out fist, dressed as natives, then the scene changes to a Louisiana plantation, where they sing several songs, interspersed with dances. Scene then changes to the Holland House New York, where they come on dressed as waiters, with song and dance. It is rather a novel act and made quite a hit. After the act is perfected, it will be very good. Full stage, close in one. Time 17 minutes.
