Eugene Sandow

The greatest “Feats of strength” and “Display of Muscles” act in the world. His lecture on Physical culture at afternoon performance, is very amusing and instructive. He is too well known to require any extended comment. The act goes great. Full stage. Time, afternoon 35 min, evening 22 min.

Eugene Sandow

Better than ever. A box office winner in every sense of the world. His innovation of giving talks on physical culture at the afternoon performances is a hit with the women folk. In the afternoon his act runs 25 minutes; in the evening 20 minutes.

Eugen Sandow

In addition to his regular exhibition, of strength and display of his muscles, Sandow at the matinees, gives a lecture on physical culture illustrating by two subjects, “before and after taking”. His talk has an element of comedy and proved very interesting. Carries his own set. 35 minutes, full stage.

Sandow

30 min. afternoon show, 25 at night, full stage – He made some changes in both his acts today and held the audience remarkably well. There will probably be a number of people who did not come during Lent included in our audience with week, but if it were not for that, I should consider herwas [sic] dpwn [sic] and out as an attraction beyond a fortnight engagement in Boston.

Sandow

39 min. full stage—The big hit of the show. He first exhibited his muscular development, in the same fashion in which he has always opened his act, being applauded heartily all through, and then proceeded to give his talk on physical development, which he illustrated with two human subjects. This part of his act is not only exceptionally interesting but in a way it was one of the comedy hits of the show. Sandow’s dialect is certainly better that that of the majority of German comedians, and the subject he used to illustrate the difference in development was so bad although a good looking chap, that the audience went into spasms over the contrast. Sandow did his usual routine of tricks, concluding with a spectacular finish. It is a great act, and I look for all sorts of business when people get to talking about it.

Eugene Sandow

23 mins.-Spec. set-Third week; still draws. His lecture has been out and revised, until now it can be listened to without the sensation of listening to a rank imitation of a Weber-Fields’ comedy. Sandow’s Dutch dialect has Sam Bernard’s beaten a mile; but he presents it with the air of a tragedian, and it doesn’t fit.

Eugene Sandow

29 mins. (scheduled time) – Spec. set- Feature; second week. Did his posing in the cabinet first, then lectured for thirty minutes and wound up with half of his spectacular exhibition. Packed the house again to-day. His lecture is the weakest part of his act

Sander

20 mins.-Spec. set in 5- The feature. He does a few poses in the cabinet, then in a dark change went to the cyclorama in the Roman Arena. The new setting is very pretentious and beautiful. Sander works faster than I have ever seen him before and his act goes with vim and dash that brings the audience to their feet. There is doubt that he can stay here more than two weeks and pack the house.

Geller Troupe

Three people who on a revolving circular platform give some excellent reproductions of marble statuary. 12 minutes. Full stage.

Wonderful Busch

Muscular work on a trapeze. Something after the style of Pascatel, but not so good. By making long waits between his tricks he manages to stretch his act to six minutes. The turn is one of no value at all. 6 min. in two, 3 shows.
