2 women. Carrying their own scenery, gives the act a little bit of novelty and makes it thoroughly alright for the three-show section. Their voices sound off due to a cold. Will place them a little earlier tonight. This place on the program is a little late. 11 min, open in one -3 shows.
YRR 2. Vocalist. Baritone. Dresses as a French peasant, in slouch hat and corduroy. Possesses a wonderfully strong baritone voice, and knows how to use it. A very good act. 9 mins. in one.
Olio in one. 14 minutes. Singing and imitations. Miss Janis’ imitations of Vesta Tilley singing “In the Pale Moonlight” is very good and her imitation of Eddy Foy is great. Miss Janis is on at 10:30 at night and is going very big. We consider her among the best single turns in the business.
3 shows, 18 min. in 1. Two men in character songs, a bit of monologue by one of them, and the lighthouse scene between the Berrys in “Shore Acres.” Went very well throughout and closed fairly strong. It is a good 3-a-day act, but so far as this house is concerned would only stand for a very early spot in the 2-show section.
GRR 3. Dixon is of the old team of Dixon & Lang, who used to play ten, twelve, and fifteen years ago, and I booked them in fear and trembling, for fear that the act might be old fashioned as I have never had an opportunity to see it. They both have excellent voices and make two or three changes of character. During their act they do the lighthouse scene from “Shore Acres,” and I think go better than any other performers who have attempted it. It made a strong hit this afternoon. The act is thoroughly all right everywhere. 17 min. in one.
GRR 3. Two rather good looking young girls in a singing act which was made somewhat attractive by changes of costume. They open first in pain muslin dresses, for their next song they go to full stage with a special set of scenery representing a forest and appearing as two backwoods girls, or two Indian maidens, whichever they choose. The faces are white and they use a combination of an Indian and cowboy dress. Their last change is in black, heavily ornamented, and sing a song in one. It is a nice little act. 12 minutes, open and close in one.
2 shows, 15 min in 3. Two men vocal specialties, trick piano playing and imitations. The imitation of George M. Cohen went big and they are fairly good vocalists. Excellent act for an early 2-show position in this house.
3 shows, 12 min in 1. The American Vesta Tilley in vocal character changes. Well known on the circuit. Had some up –to –date popular songs that got the audience. Good act for the 3-a-day division. Could easily go further down the bill.
2 women presenting a character singing number. Described in previous criticism. Received some little applause for the singing. The doll character created some few laughs. Alright for an early place on the bill and once over the circuit. 13 min. full stage closed in one – 3 shows.
this is a little Providence girl who sings a couple of coon songs and one other comic song, and on account of her local acquaintance is all right for us. I would hardly recommend her for the rest of the circuit. 10 min. in one, 3 shows.
