Josephine Sabel

11 mins. In one-Billed as “the American Chansonette (what ever that is), in a melange of songs and imitations that are cleverly handled. Outbursts of applause were not in evidence, but she was well received. Good act.

Georgia O’Ramay

Character vocalist. Opens with a little Chinese song and finishes with a couple of coon songs. Of course, her place in the bill was awfully hard and it would be difficult to judge just how she would go in an easier position. I should class the act, however, as fairly good. 12 min. in one.

Elfie Fay

Character song. This is the big hit of the show, much to my surprise. This young woman has certainly got a great deal of ability, and can twist her face into more different positions than any person I ever saw. She went on last night at nearly ten o’clock and the audience were loath to let her go. To my mind she is the best single woman in the business. 13 minutes in one.

Albert Chevalier

“The Famous Character Actor”. 30 minutes. Street in one, his accompanist being back of the drop. Undoubtedly a great artist. I fear they do not understand his characterization—not making the hit his performances deserve.

Lillian Shaw

“Songs and Impersonations.” 18 minutes in one. The best act she has ever given us. Most of her material is bright and new. This is a hit.

Dillon Brothers

GHR. Original songs and parodies. These people are certainly the best of all the parody singers. They opened this afternoon with a lot of new material together with some selections from some of their old work. They are not phenomenally strong with a Monday afternoon audience, but are bound to go big at night. 18 minutes, in one.

Banks and Wenona

Winter. In a sketch introducing singing and imitations. Act is very similar to the one they formerly had. Went very well especially the girl’s imitation of Vernon the ventriloquist. 20 min. 2 shows, open three close in one.

Nellie V. Nichols

On at 2:33, 22 minutes in 1. Miss Nichols was nothing short of a sensation. She has personality, vivaciousness and humor. Her work is mostly impersonations, some of them a little wide of the mark, but that did not make any difference. She got a hand on everything she did and her finish was a demonstration. She went bigger than Bessie Wynn, Belle Blanche, or even Alice Lloyd ever did in this house.

Carter & Bluford

Man and woman, colored, in a character singing act. This pair were fairly well received all the way through and answered very nicely as a number for the 2 spot. They did not go big at any time but worked along very satisfactorily and finished moderately strong. Both make a nice clean appearance from the front and the dressing of the act is very good. 15 minutes, two special drops and olio in 1.

Banks and Winona Winter

2 shows. 20 min. open full stage, close in one. Same style act they have always done, and went quite strong. Mr. Winter seems to be singing in better form than when here last, but Winona’s “imitations” do not grow any better as she gets older. Personally, I could never see her, but she pleases the audience, it is they who pay to be satisfied.
