Tommy Baker

Character singer and comedian. Tommy is a much better singer than he is a comedian, and barring some rather disagreeable mannerisms he always manages to get away with his song. He tells few stories which, while not especially brilliant, are harmless, and in an unimportant place on the bill does very well indeed. 13 minutes in one.

Chas. Kenna

This fellow has not played the circuit for several seasons because the material that he used in times past has never seemed to appeal to our audiences, but he has certainly got something that is all right now, and he made a strong impression this afternoon. He impersonates the character of a street “fakir” and incidentally sings three or four entirely original songs, besides giving an imitation of a “barker” around a circus lot which was exceptionally funny and which made a big hit. He is all right in every way and is going to make a valuable turn in one for next season. 22 minutes in one.

The Columbian Trio

Composed of two young girls and a man. Both of the girls are clever but the smallest one of the duo is a marvel. Her imitation of a wax doll, singing, dancing and piano playing can not be praised too highly. All in all an excellent act. 15 minutes in 3 and 5 minutes in 1.

Conway and McFarland

13 min. in 1 – Irish dialect, conversational and singing act, which did not go very strong. I think I can see evidences, the work of Irish organisms against these sorts of turns and while they do not show any outward signs of disapproval, the silence with which they are greeted would indicate that there is some reason for it.

Lucy Monroe

This act was put on to take the place of Gilbert Saroney, who cancelled. She has a rather light voice, but handles it fairly well and is one of those attractive appearing sort of women who always manage to pull through even if they don’t do quite as well. She does impersonation of several different actresses, and concluded with an imitation of Anna Held, singing a drinking song which goes very nicely and enables her to leave the stage on good terms with her audience. It is a dull sort of act and can be classed as fairly good. 12 minutes in one.

Fannie Brice

27 mins. – Spec. in 2 and cyc. In 3 – A reception on her entrance. A series of character songs that are classics. Her inimitable rendition of each number was rewarded with generous applause. Her comedy was greeted with hearty laughter. After her “My Man” number she was obliged to do encores and even then the audience was loathe to lot her go.

Albert Chevalier

32 min. in one. Chevalier changed his act a little today by introducing a French character song and one of his old Cozter favorites—“Mrs. ‘Enery “Awkins.” Although these characters are not generally understood by American audiences, nevertheless, the big holiday crowd today gave most respectful attention and seemed to thoroughly enjoy his wonderful character impersonations. There is no discounting the fact that Chevalier is a great artist, but it is doubtful if he would ever again prove a very strong magnate with us.

Chas. B. Lawlor & Daughters

An exceptionally good character dialect singing act. One of the big hits of the bill. 21 Min. open F.S. Close in One.

Amy Butler & Co.

15 min. in one. Miss Butler is a clever soubrette, very vivacious and pretty, with a strong well-trained. Her character songs are all good and new. The four boys who assist here are fairly good vocalists. Finished the act with vivacity and closed strong.
