12 minutes in one. Special drop. One of the best sister acts we have played in a long time. Have a very effective drop and sing Southern songs, with piano and banjo accompaniment. Scored one of the biggest applause hits of the show. Could go further down.
Piano and singing, 10 minutes (1). Good act with voices rich in quality making the various vocal renditions exceptionally good, and eliciting good applause from a highly appreciable audience.
In the “Bridegroom’s Reverie.” If this act word to be analyzed it probably would be considered only ordinary as the specialties introduced were not strong, but considering the manner and novelty of its presentation, the pretty pictures, and all, it must be considered a very good act. As novelties are hard to get, they should be encouraged. The act was received very strongly by the audience this afternoon. 23 min. full stage, 2 shows.
2 Shows, 25 min. full stage—This is a spectacular act, in which the two girls act out in a picture frame the pictures conjured buy a bridegroom’s reverie. The man in front in sufficient to kill any good act, and he most effectually threw a wet blanket on this one by the bad reading of his lines. There is lots of room for improvement in it, and we will make an effort to straighten them out some for the balance of the week.
Three pretty young women. F.S. Palace. Time, 13. The act opens with a mandolin trio in spot. Big hand. Then some fast and graceful dancing. Bigger hand. Then some crackerjack tight and slack wire work ending with a sensational finish. The act would make good any place on the bill.
The very best sister team in vaudeville today. Act has been improved 100. percent. Since last here, the elder sister gives impersonation of the Gibson girl which is far better than that of Valeska Surrat, while the younger sister is not only a handsome young woman but charming comedienne. 16 min, in one.
On at 3:02, 25 min, full stage. While their voices are not always true to the key, still the looks, costumes and dash of these girls canoe fall to make their work acceptable to any audience. The topical song of one of them was encored repeatedly. I know of no better “sister act” today.
Sister act: 9 min. in 1. 3 shows. Two women. This is only a fair vocal act. The girls dress well, but they are limited to a knowledge of singing. Each selection got but a weak hand. The close, with the red, white and clue costume, with “the kind applause” song, saved the act. Closed weak.
This is one of the best Sister acts in the business. Both very pretty girls, costumes are very pretty, and they both have very good voices. This act is sure to make a hit in any of our houses. Went big. 13 minutes in one.
On at 2.07, 17 min, in 1. They attempted their new act here today without notifying anybody. I supposed it was understood they were to do their old act, the one I saw at 125th St. some three weeks ago and the one I expected today. They have been instructed to do their old act the rest of this week. I think they will get by with that. My opinion of this team is that it is worth about $100 and three shows. The costume that one of them wore this afternoon for her final song out-held anything in the Anna Hold shows, being composed of green stockings, flesh tights and little else. She will not wear it again in Boston.
