These young girls, nieces of mine, are presenting a new act, this being its second week. I was very much surprised at it myself. I think I have heretofore probably been their severest critic, and I must say in this case that they have really a very striking offering, certainly far better than most Sister Acts that we play, such as the Rooney Sisters and others of that class, altho it does not resemble, in any sense, acts of this kind. There are a number of changes of costume and dances of various kinds and a Patriotic finish. The girls look very handsome, and the wardrobe is really exceedingly handsome. Regardless of the fact that they are related to me, I want ot say that any house that plays them will get a real good act. About right up to 8.39 in the 3-a-day houses. 14 min. in 1. They are doing 3 shows new, whether or not they will continue to do so, I can’t say. With their present offering I don’t think they will have to very long.
This act shared the honors with Gilfoil. The young women are pretty “dinges” but can pass for French creoles. Their Indian song is a gem both as to singing and acting. 13 min., open and close in one.
These girls opened with a song which didn’t amount to a great deal but which they carried very successfully on the strength of their pleasing manner. They are good looking and well dressed. At the finish they introduced a dance of about five minutes, which made the hit of the show, up to that point. It is about as good a three a day act as we get and strong enough to go on any time up to three o’clock or 8:45. 12 min. in one, 2 shows.
Two girls singing and dancing. This Philadelphia act proved to be quite an entertaining little offering and the girls did so well that I will push them down the bill two places. A good sister act. 11 min. Drop in one.
Refined singers and wooden shoe dancers. 12 min. In 1. 3 shows. Two quite pretty girls, making a good showing. They sing well, and their dancing is graceful and in perfect unison, with some new steps which won applause. The two changes of costume were quite effective. The close was good, with a curtain call. This act starts off the show acceptably.
2 shows, 12 min. open in 1, go to 3, close in 1. These two girls are decidedly clever singers, and have some stunning costumes. Their Indian song did not go so well as “Hiawatha” last year, but they had two or three recalls, and the audience seemed to want more of them.
2 shows, 18 min. in 1. Well-known vocalists and instrumentalists. Have some new and pretty costumes with the this time and they scored quite a hit in this spot on the bill.
Two rather good looking young girls who dress well and offer a very fair turn of singing and dancing. Thoroughly all right in the three a day section. 10 min. in 1, 3 shows.
2 Shows, 25 min. full stage—This is a spectacular act, in which the two girls act out in a picture frame the pictures conjured buy a bridegroom’s reverie. The man in front in sufficient to kill any good act, and he most effectually threw a wet blanket on this one by the bad reading of his lines. There is lots of room for improvement in it, and we will make an effort to straighten them out some for the balance of the week.
May & Flora. Late a feature of Glittering Gloria. They appeared in a fine dancing and singing. They are rather pretty young women, and were exceptionally well received b the better class of our patrons. 11 mins. F.S.
